Mr White works in an office. He liked reading in bed when he was at school. It was bad for his    1  and now he has near-sight(近视). But he wouldn't want  2to know about it and he never wears a pair of glasses. It often  3 him some trouble.

    One winter morning he was sent to a village school on business(出差). He  4a bus at a stop in a small town. Then he had to walk there. The road to the village wasn't smooth (平坦的). He fell over some times and it 5 his clothes dirty.  6 he got to the village. Suddenly it began to blow and it got colder. He was looking for the school while his 7  was blown off.     He was pleased to learn that Chibi knew all the places where the wild grapes and wild potatoes grew. He was amazed to 1how much Chibi knew about all the flowers in our class garden. He liked Chibi's black and white drawings and put them up on the wall to be 2. He liked Chibi's own handwriting, which no one but Chibi could read, and he put that up on the wall.

    Bu t, when Chibi appeared on the stage at the talent show of that year, no one could 3his eyes.“ Who is that?”“ What can that stupid do up there?”

    Until Mr Isobe announced that Chibi was going to imitate(模仿)the voices of crows. “ Voices?”“ Voices of crows?”

    4he imitated the voices of newly hatched crows. And he made the mother crow's voice. He showed how crows cry early in the morning. He showed how crows cry when the village people have some unhappy accident. He showed how crows 5when they are happy and cheerful. Everybody's mind was taken to the6mountainside from which Chibi probably came to school.

    Chibi made very special 7deep down in his throat(喉咙)to imitate a crow in an old tree in the end. Now everybody could imagine8the far and lonely place whe re Chibi lived with his family.

    Then Mr Isobe explained 9 Chibi had learned those calls--leaving his home for school at sunrise, and arriving home at sunset, every day for six long years.

    Every one of us cried, thinking how much we had been 10 to Chibi all those long years.

    He was a boy beyond our usual imagination!

    Walt Disney, the great film­maker was born in Chicago in 1901. His greatest wish was to be a famous 1. When he was young, he went to a 2office in a city named Kansas. There he had some 3. He took some pictures of himself and wanted to get a job. But he had 4 luck. They looked at the pictures and said, "Sorry, young man. We don't think there is 5 interesting in your pictures. "

    Kierman was born in Sydney, Australia, and grew up near the sea. For more than 40 years, he raced in international sailing competitions.

    In 1987, Kierman was competing in an around-the world race when he began to 1 the huge amount of rubbish in the world's oceans.  When he returned to Australia, he 2 to do something about it.

    He organized a community 3 called "Clean Up Sydney Harbour". On Sunday, January 8, 1989, more than 40,000 volunteers came out to 4away rubbish. The next year, Kierman made the clean-up a national event. It was a huge 5 Across Australia, about 300,000 people spent the day improving their local 6.

    Since then, "Clean Up Australia" has got 7every year. In 2002, for example, 800,000 people cleaned up almost 15,000 tons of rubbish from Australia's beaches, parks and streets.

With the9 of the United Nations Environment Program, he introduced "Clean Up the World", an international program that supports communities around the world in cleaning up and protecting the environment.     I was born and grew up in the small town of Pineville, which I left at the age of sixteen. Twenty years 1 I came back on a visit. I went to see my old friend Tom Clark, who, active as ever, was head of a Reading Club. He was 2 getting ready to welcome a famous writer, who had been invited to come to give a talk on novels at the public library that evening. Since I happened to have read a book or two 3 this famous writer, when Tom asked me to go with him, I gladly 4.

    When it was just about time for the 7 to begin, I saw Tom standing at the door making a sign for 8 to come out. He looked worried about something, so I got up right away and went to him. He said that he had just had a telephone call from the writer. He had 9 his flight and would not be arriving! While we were considering the problem, Tom suddenly asked me if I would mind giving a talk instead of the writer. I never had time to 10 it when all at once I found I was being pushed back into the reading room to speak to the waiting audience.

    A group of frogs(青蛙) went jumping through the forest one day. Suddenly, two of them fell into a deep 1 All of the other frogs came together to look 2at their two fallen friends. They all began to shake their heads 3 "It's too deep!" said one frog. Another added that there was no way they would ever be able to get out 4.

    The two frogs began to jump and tried to get out. But the frogs that were 5 kept shouting at them that they had better 6 because they were just wasting their 7. One of the two frogs finally 8, listened to their advice and died.

    The other frog just kept on jumping harder than ever9 all the shouts. They kept shouting at him to stop being so 10and save himself from all the pain(疼痛) when he jumped and fell back down to the hard bottom again and again.

    Finally, to the 11of all the other frogs, he jumped right high enough and got out. The other frogs asked him, "Why did you keep jumping 12we shouted at you to stop?" The frog explained, "I was so worried at that time that I could hardly, 13anything. I thought all of you were saying words of 14all the time and cheering me on to try harder."
