In 1989, an 8.2 earthquake killed over 30,000 people in less than four minutes. A father rushed to his son's school, only to discover the building was as flat as a pancake.

    But he remembered that promise he had made to his son, "No matter what, I'll always be there for you!" Tears began to fill his eyes. As he looked at the pile of debris(瓦砾)that once was the school, it looked hopeless, but he kept remembering his words. He rushed there and started digging.

    Other parents tried to pull him off what was left of the school. They tried saying many different things: "It's too late!" "They're all dead!" "Come on, face reality, there's nothing you can do!"

    A firefighter also tried to pull him away, saying, "Fires are breaking out, explosions(爆炸) are happening everywhere. You're in danger."

    The police came and said, "You're endangering(危及)others. Go home."

    To which he replied, "Are you going to help me?" And then he went back to his digging, stone by stone.

    He went on because he needed to know, "Is my boy alive or is he dead?"

    He dug for eight hours ...12 hours…then, in the 38th hour, he pulled back a large stone and heard his son. He screamed his son's name, "ARMAND!" He heard back, "Dad? It's me, Dad! I told the other kids not to worry. I told them that if you were alive, you'd save me and when you saved me, they'd be saved. You did it, Dad!"

    "What's going on there?" the father asked.

    "There are 14 of us left out of 33, Dad," his son replied. "We're afraid, hungry, thirsty, but thankful you're here."

    "Come on out, boy!"

    "Let the other kids out first, because I know you'll get me! No matter what, I know you'll always be there for me!"

I spent an hour writing out all the invitations to my daughter's classmates. She told me who said they were coming. We spent so much time and money making gifts. "Tina would love the sunglasses, and Mike would love this pencil…" Jenny said. She helped me to make cupcakes, 60 of them with different colors and tastes. 

Everything was ready. At four, it started to rain. However, it didn't seem to stop soon. "Will they come at five?" Jenny asked me. She looked worried. I was not sure, either. We sat on the sofa and waited. At 4: 50, Lisa, Jenny's best friend, arrived. We were both happy and welcomed her. Until 5: 20, seven of thirty classmates came. 

I thought Jenny would be sad. "I'm happy today, Mom," Jenny told me after the party was over. "It was rainy, but some of my classmates still came. I know who are my real friends."

"Yes, it's the most important thing," I said.

As a child, I love playing the piano. I ask my parents to buy me a piano, but 1 have no money. It is too expensive for our family 2 one. I feel sad about that.

 In our school, there 3 a piano, but we can use it only in the music class. After class, our music teacher Mr Smith locks(锁) the door to the piano room, 4 nobody can use the piano.

 Every day, when I pass by the piano room, I always stop and look at the piano. I can feel my 5 dancing at the piano and they look so beautiful. Mr Smith 6 me do that often. He asks me to come to his office and gives me a key to the piano room 7 Monday. I can get into the room before and after school to play the piano. I jump with happiness when I get8 key.

Hello, everybody!I am Kevin. I am a student of Nanhai Middle School. My school is very beautiful. I study in Class Two, Grade Seven. 

Look, there is a map of our school on the wall. There are four buildings and five gardens in our school. In the gardens, there are a lot of beautiful flowers, grass and trees. 

There is a big playground in my school. It is in the middle of the school. 

On the left of the playground, there is a building. It's the library. On the first floor, there are two big reading rooms. I like reading there very much. I often borrow books from the library too. 

There is a teaching building behind the library. We study in that building. My classroom is on the second floor in it. The science room, the computer room and the music room are all on the fifth floor. The teachers' offices are in that building too. 

Where is the sports hall? Oh, it's on the right of the playground. We often have PE lessons in the sports hall. The canteen is a building behind the sports hall. We have lunch and dinner in the canteen. 

I like my school because my school is very beautiful. In the school, I feel very happy.
