I was in a shopping mall, so I decided to go and get a cup of coffee. As I was making my way to the coffee shop, I noticed an old gentleman poorly dressed sitting near the shop. I knew from the first sight that he needed help. He had a little lunch in front of him and was enjoying it. It was clear that he had a problem with his right eye. I then joined the line and waited to be served.

    Then it happened. One of the most beautiful gestures(姿态) I had ever seen in my life. There was a young man in front of me in the line who was also waiting to be served. The next thing I knew was that the young man handed the waitress(女服务员) 20 dollars and requested a glass of juice as a favor(善行). The waitress looked at the young man a little perplexed, not fully understanding the request. That was when the young man asked her to give the juice to the old gentleman eating his lunch outside, as well as the change(零钱) from the 20 dollars. The young man also told her that he would be watching every second so that she would be completely safe. Then there was a wonderful exchange between the waitress and the old man. I only wished I could take a photo of the smiles on both of their faces.

As I was considering this event later, I wondered why the young man didn't perform this act of kindness himself. Maybe he was hoping that this act of kindness might inspire(激励) others to do something for this old man as well.

    Mike works very long hours every day. He usually gets up at 17:00. He has a shower and makes his breakfast. What a funny time to make breakfast! After breakfast, he practices (练习) his guitar for ten minutes, then he puts on his jacket and goes to work. To get to work, he takes the No.17 bus to the Star Hotel. The bus usually leaves at 19:15. He works all night. People love to listen to him! He gets home at 7:00, and he watches the early morning news on TV. He goes to bed at 8:30, a tired but happy man. Can you think what his job is?

    Sixteen years ago a boy gave me an important gift. It was a smile.

    It was the early autumn of my first year at a middle school, and my old school was far away. As a result, no one knew who I was. I was very lonely, and afraid to speak to anyone.

    Every time I heard the other students talking and laughing, I felt my heart break. I couldn't talk with anyone about my problems.

    Then one day, when my classmates were talking happily with their friends, I was sitting at my desk unhappily as usual. At that moment, a boy entered the classroom. I didn't know who he was. He passed by me and then turned back. He looked at me, with a smile.

    Suddenly, I felt the touch of something bright and friendly. It made me feel happy and warm. That smile changed my life. I started to talk with other students and made friends. Day by day, I became closer to everyone in my class. The boy with the lucky smile has become my best friend now.

    One day I asked him why he had smiled, but he couldn't remember doing so!

    It doesn't matter because all the dark days have gone. I believe that the world is what you think it is. If you think it is lonely, you might always be alone. So smile at the world and it will smile back.

    Captain(船长) Nemo invited me and my friends to go hunting with him in the forests of Crespo Island. I asked him why he was so interested in Crespo Island, "I thought you preferred the sea to being on land."

    "I do," replied the captain. "But these forests are under the sea."

After going through a door, we were about ten metres under the water. The light from the sun reached us. Everything looked very colourful. We were going deeper and deeper. At 100 metres deep, we could see quite well, and Captain Nemo stopped and pointed to some dark shapes. This was the forest. The "trees" in the forest were giant seaweed(海草), and all their "branches" were vertical(垂直的).We could not stop looking at them. Fish swam around the branches like birds in a forest.

    Suddenly, I saw a large sea spider about a metre tall. It was going to attack me. Captain Nemo's man killed it with his gun, but it reminded me that the sea could be as dangerous as it was beautiful. When we reached 150 metres, it was dark. The sun's light could not reach this depth(深度). We turned on our lights. We could see about 20 metres around us. Finally, we found Crespo Island—where a steep rock wall rose in front of us.

    We could go no further, so we walked back towards the Nautilus. Suddenly, Captain Nemo stopped and shot an animal with his gun, it was a beautiful and rare sea otter(水獭). At last, we could see the Nautilus. Several large sharks swam over us. Luckily they didn't see us. We re-entered the Nautilus safely. I was tired but amazed by what I had seen.

    Molly had a math exam that day. Math was her worst subject. Her friend Ted promised to help her prepare for the exam, but then he ignored(不理会) all her calls.

    When the exam began, Molly saw Ted holding his phone under the table. He was reading something on the phone! Molly was surprised. Was that how Ted always got good grades? She felt really angry. It wasn't fair! Then Molly put up her hand. Ted was looking at his phone and didn't hear Mr. Reed as he walked up to his table. Mr. Reed picked up Ted's exam paper and told him to go outside. Ted started crying as he went to the door. Molly felt really sorry.

    After school, Molly heard footsteps (脚步声)behind her when she was leaving school. It was Ted "Molly, wait!" he called. "I want to talk to you." Molly could see Ted's eyes were red." Listen! I'm really sorry I didn't answer your calls. My dad had heart trouble. He had an operation (手术) today. I was very worried, so I was reading messages from my mom to see how it was going. But Mr. Reed thought I was cheating. Luckily he believes me now. I'm sorry I didn't tell you. Will you forgive(原谅)me?”

    At sharing time, Logan waved(挥)his hand wildly. Ms. Lewis called on him." I lost my tooth," said Logan.

   "I remember," said Ms Lewis," It was yesterday.

   "You showed us the hole." said Zach.

   "Ms. Lewis took your picture for the board, and she gave you the tooth in a little box to take home," said Sammy.

   "Yes, but then I really can't find that box anywhere!" said Logan.

   "Oh, no!" said Emma." Only when the Tooth Fairy buys the lost tooth from us, can we grow a new tooth."

    Logan nodded." What should I do?"

   "Maybe you could leave something that looks like a tooth," said Sammy.

   "It's worth a try," said Logan.

    The first night, Logan left a round white eraser under his pillow(枕头) But it didn't work

    Logan reported back to the class. Zach advised to use a puppy tooth instead while Emma suggested white corn.

    That night, he put a kernel(谷粒)of white corn. Still nothing happened.

    The third night. Logan left a note under his pillow. It said：

    In the morning. Logan found a note from the Tooth Fairy under his pillow. He shared the note with his class at school.

    "If you sleep with your mouth open, she will be able to see the tooth hole," said Sammy. The class laughed. Come on! But that just gave me a great idea!" said Logan.

    The next day, at sharing time, Logan showed the kids a shiny half﹣dollar.

   "How did you get the Tooth Fairy to leave the money?" asked Zach.

    Logan said proudly." The photo! I took it home to put under my pillow."
