It was the beginning of a new term. As a 1  teacher in that school, I didn't know any of the students. A little girl was standing at the gate of the classroom. She looked very shy.

I walked up to her and2 why she stood there. But she said nothing. Then a boy shouted, “She is from Grade Four, the worst student in her grade.”I looked at the little girl. She didn't seem to be the smart kind. I 3 why her teacher asked her to stay in Grade Three. I took her hand and 4 her into the classroom.

“Sit here. Now you are my student and I'm your teacher,” I said. She still said nothing, but suddenly began to cry.

 I later learnt that her parents died in a car accident. She became sad and didn't like talking to others after that.

 She learnt very   5. I gave her respect(尊重) and never looked down upon (鄙视) her as I know everybody deserves(值得) respect. I helped her after school, and she was making 6   little by little. As time went by, she was not as  7 as before. At the end of the term, she seemed to have forgotten all her sadness. She was not among the best students when she left that school, but  8 , she was not that shy and sad little girl any more.

 In the following  9  , she would send me a card on each Thanksgiving Day. Three days ago, I  10  an invitation to her wedding(婚礼). And now, I am at her wedding, and she is smiling brightly.

 Everyone deserves respect and everyone can be happy.

    One day a poor farmer was taking a bag of wheat to town. Suddenly the bag 1 from his horse onto the road. He did not know 2 to do about it because it was 3 heavy for him to lift the bag by himself. He only hoped that someone would soon pass by and 4 him a hand.

    Just at this moment a man 5 a horse came up to him. But the farmer's heart6 when he saw who he was. It was the great man living 7. The farmer had hoped to ask another farmer or a poor man like him to come along and help him. He couldn't ask such a great man to help him. But to his 8, the great man got off his horse as soon as he came nearer. He said to the farmer, "I see you 9 help, friend. How good it is that I'm here just at the right time." Then he took one end of the bag, and the farmer the other. They together raised it and put it on the horse.

    "Sir," asked the farmer, "how can I pay you?"

    "It's quite easy." the great man replied with 10. "Whenever you see anyone else introuble, do the same for him."

    Ever since I was a child, my mouth has caused me trouble. I'm not a bad person; I have a 1 time learning when to keep my mouth closed.

    My mom has told me again and again, "Robert, your constant bad words are hurting me. If you 2 to be this rude, you will get into big trouble."

    It's been a problem at school several times too when teachers have told me something I didn't want to hear. I used to feel it was my duty(职责) to 3 myself.

    One day in English class I began working on my homework until I heard a classmate 4 behind me. It was Nathaniel, who liked doing that as usual.

    At first, I said very 5, "Nathaniel, would you please be quiet?"

    However, Nathaniel continued talking to himself. I quickly 6 "Nathaniel, shut up(闭嘴)!"

    For the next five minutes, we threw hurtful(伤感情的) words back and forth at each other.

    Later on, we were taken to the principal's office. There, Mr. Black, our English teacher, told us to 10 the matter.     Roger was new in town, and he had no friends here. His birthday was coming. He wanted to have a big party, but he was1that other kids would not come to his party.

    One week2the birthday party, Roger and his3went to Benny's Pizza Store. It had the best pizza in the town. Roger wanted a large pizza. He4it very much.

    Last Sunday, we had a class trip to enjoy ourselves. Our head teacher took us to the beach for a 1. When we arrived there at 9:00 a. m. by bus, we heard a big  2. It was made by wind and waves (海浪). It sounded like they were playing wonderful symphony(交响乐). Right away, we sat down and 3 to enjoy our picnic. We told jokes, sang and played games while eating sandwiches, chocolate and other snacks.
