I got out of the train station with my father. A woman came to him and said that her 1 had been stolen. She asked if he could 2 her some money to go back home. My father gave her what she asked for and told her not to 3 paying it back. I was shocked. How could my father be so 4? It was clear that she was telling a lie, staying at the station all day long 5 money.

    “She was lying!" I shouted. “ 6 did you give her the money?"

     My father looked at me. He was a bit 7."And what would you like me to do?" he said. “Should I tell 8 that I am a college professor and I can see through her scam(诡计)?" I did not understand him at all, and then he told me something that I have 9 forgotten. "First, she would not do this 10 she did not need the money. Second, I made her day, because now she thinks that she is 11 than me. It is more important to her than the money, but I do not 12 this."

     A week later, we were at the same 13, and the same woman came to my father with the same story. "Not this time," my father told her. “In your business, you 14 learn to recognize people. Try another story 15 me next week."

"Mom, let's run through the rain," she said with a 3 voice." What? "Mom asked." Let's run through the rain! "She repeated." No, honey. We'll wait until it 4 down a bit." Mom replied.

    This young child waited about 5 minute and repeated, "Mom, let's run through the rain."

    "We'll get wet if we do," Mom said. "No, we won't, Mom. That's not what you said this morning," the young girl said." This morning? 6 did I say we could run through the rain and not get wet?" "Don't you remember? When you were talking to Daddy about his cancer, you said, 'If God can get us 7this, he can get us through anything! "

    The entire crowd became dead silent. I dare say you couldn't hear anything but the 8. We all stood silently. Mom stopped to for a moment about what she would say. "Honey, you are absolutely right. Let's run through the rain. If we get wet, maybe we just need  9," Mom said. Then off they ran.

    We all stood watching, smiling and laughing as they  10 past the cars. They held their shopping bags over their 11 just in case. They got wet. But they were12by a few who screamed and laughed like children all the 13 to their cars. And yes, I did. I ran. I got wet. I needed washing. Circumstances or people can take away your material possessions (财产), they can take away your money, and they can take away your  14. But no one can ever take away your precious 15.     It was a fine summer day. The Chinese girl Dan and her mother were on the1. They wanted to go to the2. There were many children on it. Their parents were with3, too.     I have lots of friends but my best friend is Laura. We're very similar in a lot of ways. We are both tall, but I am a bit taller than Laura. We  1 have black hair and brown eyes. We both like sports, so we get up early every day to 2. I am usually tired in the mornings, 3. I stay up later than Laura because I like watching TV and playing computer games! Laura doesn't 4 TV always. But she enjoys playing computer games.

    Laura is very smart and hard-working-- she often gets 5 grades than I 6. But she still has time to go out and7with her friends. She is very outgoing, and she is 8 most popular girl in school. Everyone likes her 9 she's very kind and helpful. I don't work as 10 as Laura, but I am a good student. I go for all my classes and do my 11 every day. Sometimes I need help with my homework and Laura is always there to help me. When l am unhappy, she knows how to make me 12 better. I am so lucky to have a friend like Laura!
