I arrived at my mother's home for our Saturday family dinner. The smells of food flew over from the kitchen. Mother was pulling out quilt after quilt from the boxes, proudly showing me their beauties. I knew they were all made herself. She was preparing for a quilt show on TV. When we began to fold and put them back into the boxes, I noticed something at the bottom of one box. I pulled it out. “What's this?” I asked.

“Oh?” Mom said, “That's Mama's quilt.”

    I spread the quilt. It looked as if a group of school children had made the pieces together.

 “Grandmother made this?” I asked in surprise. My grandmother was a master at making quilts. This certainly didn't look like any of the quilts she had made.

  “Yes, right before she died. I brought it home with me last year and made some changes,” Mom said, “I'm still working on it. See, this is what I've done so far.”

     I looked at it more closely. She had made a line straight(直的). At the center of the quilt， she had stitched a piece of cloth with these words:    “My mother made many quilts. She didn't get all lines straight. But I think this is beautiful. I want to see it finished. Her last quilt.”

“Oh, this is so nice, Mom.” I said. I was sure now that by completing my grandmother's quilt, my mother was honoring her own mother. I realized that I held in my hands a family treasure. It started with the loving hands of one woman, and continued with the loving hands of another.

    John is five years old now. He is a good boy. He is very clever and can read very well. But he can't tell the right time by clock. He doesn't say eight o'clock in the morning, twelve o'clock or four o'clock in the afternoon. He always says "breakfast time" for eight o'clock, "lunch time" for twelve o'clock and "tea-time" for four o'clock in the afternoon. His mother wants to teach him to know the time by clock.

    "Can you count, John?" his mother asks him. "Yes. Let me count for you. One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten, eleven, and twelve..." "That's good, John. Now let me tell you to say the time. Now, look! I put the long hand on twelve and the short hand on one. That is one o'clock. If I put the short on two, that's two o'clock. Do you know?"

    "Yes, I do." John tells his mother. "Good. If I put the short hand on four, what's that?" his mother asks and really puts the short one on four. "Tea-time, Mum. And I am hungry."

It's only my third week at my new school but I love it! Today's Friday. We have three {#blank#}1{#/blank#} (class) in the morning.

My first class on Fridays is music. I'm learning to play {#blank#}2{#/blank#}drums this year and I love it! I practice it in the music room every lunchtime {#blank#}3{#/blank#} I'm not very good at it—I make a terrible noise!

Then we have math. We do a test every Friday but I'm quite good {#blank#}4{#/blank#}math, so it's OK. After math we have English. We {#blank#}5{#/blank#}(do) a project for the school website at the moment. The class is very quiet now because everybody's writing their projects {#blank#}6{#/blank#}(careful). Look outside! On the sports field, the football team {#blank#}7{#/blank#}(practice) for the match on Saturday.

Friday afternoons are great because we can choose {#blank#}8{#/blank#} (we)classes. This term I'm learning cooking skills. We make some fantastic {#blank#}9{#/blank#}(dish) — spaghetti, chocolate cakes and biscuits! Cooking is {#blank#}10{#/blank#}(real) fun. Who says cooking is just for girls?

There are many schools in Tophill City. Le Rosy is a very good one for students to study. Students study at school 1 days a week, from Monday to Friday. A student' s day starts at 7:00 am and finishes at 8:00 pm. Students have eight 2 a day. Each class is 40 minutes 3 . Then they have art classes and do sports from 4:20 pm to 6:00 pm. After dinner, students 4 to different kinds of clubs, like Music Club, Chess Club, Movie Club and English Club.

Le Rosy is 5 a good place to live in. Students' rooms are really 6 . Two students live in a room with a washroom and there is a TV and telephone in the room. But you can only watch TV 7 lunch,12:20 pm—1:00 pm. Each student gets the same bed sheet(床单) in color. Teachers come to get 8 twice(两次)a week for washing, usually on Tuesday afternoons and Friday mornings.

9 at Le Rosy are the same as the children at many schools. There are a lot of rules at school, too. If they break(违反) the rules, they can't 10 there.

On Friday afternoon, after school, all the children can go home with their parents and they come back to school on Sunday afternoon.
