Nowadays, more and more schools in China have rules making students wear school uniforms to school. A lot of Chinese students complain about{#blank#}1{#/blank#} (wear) their school uniforms every day. But do American students get {#blank#}2{#/blank#}(annoy) about their uniforms, too? American high schools usually have a dress code(衣着标准), {#blank#}3{#/blank#} is about requirements for students' dressing. Boys at school must wear clean jackets every day. Girls are {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (luck) than boys, for they have more flexible{#blank#}5{#/blank#} (choose) than boys. They can either dress similarly to the boys {#blank#}6{#/blank#}wear a dress. In general, it takes a student 10-15 minutes every morning {#blank#}7{#/blank#} (dress) up for class. As students do in China, plenty of American students also have their complaints about school uniforms. What if students really dislike the dress code and want to get rid of it? Instead of getting punished, {#blank#}8{#/blank#} (actual) there're ways to do that. At my school, "dress down" tickets {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (sell) on school days. If students are willing to buy a ticket, they don't need to wear school uniforms the following day. I have a strong  {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (believe) that one day Chinese students can buy these tickets, too.

    As a major part of the culture and sports activities in our school, the Culture and Sports Festival, which ended last week, is {#blank#}1{#/blank#} largest and longest culture and sports event {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (organize) by our school.

    There were so many interesting and attractive activities that could enjoy {#blank#}3{#/blank#}(we) in them. The sports meeting {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (hold) on the new playground that is twice {#blank#}5{#/blank#} (large) than the old one. It is always the favorite of the sports fans.     Happiness can {#blank#}1{#/blank#}(describe) as a positive mood and a pleasant state of mind. There are many factors contributing to happiness.

A person {#blank#}2{#/blank#} an obviously ideal situation is not necessarily happy. The ideal situation may have little to do with his actual feelings.

A good education and income are usually considered necessary for happiness. Though both may contribute, {#blank#}3{#/blank#} are only chief factors if the person is {#blank#}4{#/blank#}(serious) undereducated or actually suffering from lack of physical needs.

    The rich {#blank#}5{#/blank#}(be) not likely to be happier than the middle-income group or even those with very low incomes. People with college educations are somewhat happier than those who did not graduate from high school, and it is believed that this is mainly {#blank#}6{#/blank#} they have more opportunity to control their {#blank#}7{#/blank#}(life). Yet people with a high income and a college education may be {#blank#}8{#/blank#}(little) happy than those with the same income and no college education.

    Poor health does not rule out happiness except for the severely {#blank#}9{#/blank#}(disable) or those in pain. Learning {#blank#}10{#/blank#}(cope) with a health problem can contribute to happiness.

    Keeping a diary in English is a{#blank#}1{#/blank#}(use) way to improve our English writing abilities. Compared with other forms of writing, it is shorter and take{#blank#}2{#/blank#}(little) time. It can help us to develop the habit of thinking in English. If we insist on this practice, gradually we'll learn how to expresses {#blank#}3{#/blank#}(we) in English. Keeping a diary in English, we certainly run up against many difficulties. In the first place, it often happens that we have trouble {#blank#}4{#/blank#}(find) proper words and phrases to give{#blank#}5{#/blank#}(express) to our mind. Secondly, there are many idiomatic(惯用的)words in Chinese. And{#blank#}6{#/blank#}is extremely hard for us to put them into English{#blank#}7{#/blank#}(proper).

    As far as I am concerned, my suggestion is{#blank#}8{#/blank#}we should always have a notebook and a Chinese-English dictionary{#blank#}9{#/blank#}easy reach. Whenever something beats us, we can first put it down in our notebook and then consult our dictionary. We can also turn to our English teacher for help, if necessary. In short, I believe that it is of great use to keep a diary in English for the development of our writing{#blank#}10{#/blank#}(skill).

    If this 13-year-old American boy succeeds in his effort {#blank#}1{#/blank#} (climb) Mount Everest, he has modest ambitions — pick a small piece of rock from the top of the world as a memento (纪念品) and wear it in a necklace.

    "I will not sell it or give it to anyone. It is something for {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (me) to say 'this is a rock from the summit'," Jordan Romero from California, told reporters in Kathmandu. He left {#blank#}3{#/blank#} the mountain on Sunday.

    If he {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (succeed), Romero will become {#blank#}5{#/blank#} youngest climber to scale the 8,850 meters Everest summit. {#blank#}6{#/blank#} (current) a 16-year-old Nepali boy, Temba Tsheri Sherpa, holds the record of being the world's youngest climber of Mount Everest. But Romero said he was not after {#blank#}7{#/blank#} (set) climbing records.

    Romero said Mount Qomolangma was part of his goal to climb the highest mountains on all seven {#blank#}8{#/blank#} (continent).

    "It is just a goal," he {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (say) confidently. "If I don't succeed I am okay. I will try again."

    Romero has already climbed Mount Kilimanjaro in Africa and Mount McKinley in Alaska among others.

    "I know it requires a lot of {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (patient). I will remain patient. I want to stay safe and make right choice," Romero said.
