Hi! I'm the Beijing- Zhangjiakou railway. I've felt happy recently because a new high- speed railway now links(连接) the two cities. Do you want to know my story?I was born in 1909. I'm 115years old now. The one who made me was Zhan Tianyou. He was a brave and smart man. He believed China should build its own railways without other countries' help. So he built me,{#blank#}1{#/blank#}
At first, my trains used steam(蒸汽). {#blank#}2{#/blank#} Their top speed was only 35 km/h. Then, the trains started to use diesel(柴油). Later, there were even better trains which used electricity(电). But it still took more than three hours to travel from Beijing to Zhangjiakou, Hebei.
In 2020, the new high- speed railway opened on Dec 30. I was so excited.{#blank#}3{#/blank#}. The high- speed trains had a top speed of 350 km/h! It only took 47 minutes to travel from Beijing to Zhangjiakou.
During the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics, Beijing and Zhangjiakou, the two host cities of the event, welcomed lots of people from around the world.{#blank#}4{#/blank#}
I'm too old to keep working these days, but people will keep me as part of history, {#blank#}5{#/blank#}. But I'm still proud(骄傲的) of all the changes China has made. Zhan Tianyou must be proud too.
A. It helped people travel much faster. B. The railway played an important role. C. They were very slow. D. Most people liked to take a plane. E. China's first self- built railway F. It's a little sad. |
As we all know, with the development of technology, smartphones have influenced the old people in our family a lot. A TV programme interviewed three teenagers on how smartphones influence their family.
My grandfather asked me to teach him how to play the popular video game King of Glory(王者荣耀). I was surprised that he was interested in this! He chats with family members on Wechat every day. He tries to learn other new things as well. For example, he watches courses on learning apps. Although he is old, he still cares about technology and sports. So, as we can see, the Internet can help elderly people. —Xing Yuxi, 12, Chongqing |
I live in Hangzhou, a city of technology. People enjoy the convenience(便利) brought by the Internet. However, I often worry about the elderly. Take my grandma as an example. On one hand, she would like to get discounts by using mobile phones. On the other hand, she's afraid of getting cheated online. I think it takes time for elderly people to get used to these things. We should help them keep up with the times. — Sun Run, 14, Zhejiang |
Smartphones have made a big difference in my grandma's life. In the past, newspaper and TV programs were her only ways to get information. However, it was not good for her eyes, as she has severe cataracts(严重白内障). But now, she can listen to the news through all kinds of apps on her mobile phone. She doesn't have to look at the screen all the time. Sometimes, she even plays mobile games for fun. Thanks to the Internet, my grandma now has a more colorful life. —Wen Jiayi, 13, Sichuan |
