This summer I travelled from noisy Beijing to Wuzhen, a beautiful village in Zhejiang Province. Unfolded before me was {#blank#}1{#/blank#} unique image of this water country—the stone bridge and the water flowing, all like fairy tales to me.

    However, {#blank#}2{#/blank#} impressed me most was not the natural scenery but the scene of a grandma bathing a little baby in a wooden basin with the door open. My friends couldn't help {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (take) pictures of them. To my surprise, the grandma smiled and waved at us. All of a sudden, my heart was filled with {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (warm).

    I shared the photo and my {#blank#}5{#/blank#} (forget) experience with my friends. They were {#blank#}6{#/blank#}(simple) moved as I was, but at the same time they reminded me of the unpleasant experiences in big cities. We feel embarrassed to see people quarreling in public because they {#blank#}7{#/blank#} (step) on accidentally by strangers.

    According to a recent survey {#blank#}8{#/blank#} (make) in November 2016: 45 percent of the residents don't know the names of their neighbors; 63 percent have never devoted {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (they) to talking to their neighbors; 67 percent think that the relationship between them and their neighbors is just so-so, or even bad.

    Wouldn't it be beautiful to say hello to our neighbors who just came back{#blank#}10{#/blank#}work and give them a smile?

    She looks like any other schoolgirl, fresh-faced and full of life. Sarah Thomas is looking forward to challenge of her new A-level course. But unlike her school friends, 16-year-old Sarah is not spending half-term {#blank#}1{#/blank#} (rest). Instead, she is earning $6,500 a day as {#blank#}2{#/blank#} model in New York.

    Sarah says, “My dad thinks I should take the offer now. But at the moment, school {#blank#}9{#/blank#}(come) first. I don't want to get too absorbed in modeling. It is {#blank#}10{#/blank#}(certain) fun but the lifestyle is a little unreal. I don't want to have nothing else to fall back on when I can't model my more.”

    Confucius（孔子） is honored {#blank#}1{#/blank#} setting the tone for much traditional Chinese music for thousands of years. He{#blank#}2{#/blank#}（think） to be a music teacher and a {#blank#}3{#/blank#} （talent） musician who was able to play several instruments expertly. Perhaps for other people around the world, music was meant mainly for amusement. {#blank#}4{#/blank#} during the time of the Zhou Dynasty about 500BC, music had an important role in making society stable.

    How music was used and performed is expressed in several main Confucian books. Confucius taught that {#blank#}5{#/blank#}（educate） somebody, you should start with poems, emphasize ceremonies, and finish with music.

    Musical knowledge was {#blank#}6{#/blank#} matter of higher learning. It is said that he thought of the six most important {#blank#}7{#/blank#}（subject） to study, ranking music higher than the other five necessary subjects like writing and mathematics.

    Music was so important because the ideal society was to be governed by ritual （礼制） functions, but not by law. In a culture {#blank#}8{#/blank#} people function according to ritual, music is used to help govern them. So music wasn't really {#blank#}9{#/blank#}（entertain）, but a means for musicians to accomplish political and social goals. Music is {#blank#}10{#/blank#}（eventual） a means for social happiness.

    The polar bear is found in the Arctic Circle and some big land masses as far south as Newfoundland. While they are rare north of 88°, there is evidence {#blank#}1{#/blank#} they range all the way across the Arctic, and as far south as James Bay in Canada. It is difficult to figure out a global population of polar bears as much of the range has been  {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (poor) studied; however, biologists calculate that there are about 20,000-25,000 polar bears worldwide.

    Modem methods {#blank#}3{#/blank#} tracking polar bear populations have been employed only since the mid-1980s, and are expensive {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (perform) consistently over a large area. In recent years some Inuit people in Nunayut {#blank#}5{#/blank#} (report) increases in bear sightings around human settlements, leading to a {#blank#}6{#/blank#} (believe) that populations are increasing. Scientists have responded by {#blank#}7{#/blank#} (note) that hungry bears may be congregating(聚集) around human settlements, leading to the illusion(错觉) that populations are {#blank#}8{#/blank#} (high) than they actually are. Of {#blank#}9{#/blank#}  nineteen recognized polar bear subpopulations, three are declining, six {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (be) stable, one is increasing, and nine lack enough data.
