A.   You should let your cat inside.

B.   Going outside is bad for cats, too.

C.   Keeping a cat is good for you.

D.  The birds are fewer and fewer in America.

E.   Cats can bring illness.

F.   Cats kill many birds and small animals every year.

    Many kinds of birds live in the United States, but the number of the birds is becoming smaller and smaller every year. One of the leading reasons is the growing number of pet cats. By keeping your pet cats in your home, you can help give birds a better possible chance to live.

    Of the 90 million pet cats in this country, about two-thirds are allowed to go outside. It is said that these cats kill hundreds of millions of birds each year as well as billions of small animals such as rabbits and field mice.

    They can also bring illness to the animals that live in people's yard, and further weaken(变弱) the health of the natural populations.

    Allowing pet cats to go outside is not just bad for birds and wildlife(野生动物). It is bad for the cats themselves, too. Outdoor cats can get sick very easily. They may be in danger from traffic and attacks   (攻击)  from other animals. In fact, outdoor cats usually don't pass the age of five, while indoor cats often live to be 17 or older.

    Keep your pet cat inside! If you raise a young cat, it's your duty to let it play inside.

Chris Jones 刚刚结束了一次不寻常的印度之旅,记者就此对他进行了采访。以下是采访的部分内容:

Reporter: {#blank#}1{#/blank#}

Chris: Well, it all started two years ago when I was planning a trip to India, I visited  a photographic(摄影的) exhibition of elephants and I realized that the only way to travel around India was on an elephant.

Reporter: {#blank#}2{#/blank#}

Chris: I flew to New Delhi and started looking for an elephant. I needed an elephant trained to carry people. I asked an expert for help. He taught me how to ride an elephant. He also helped me find an elephant.

Reporter: {#blank#}3{#/blank#}

Chris: Not too long, I bought a female(母的) elephant called Tara for about USD 6, 000.

Reporter: {#blank#}4{#/blank#}

Chris: Tara and I set off from New Delhi a week later. We were heading to Sonepur in northern India. And what a ride! Elephants can travel at about 6 miles an hour and Sonepur was more than 1, 200 km away. It took us 64 days to complete the journey.

Reporter: {#blank#}5{#/blank#}

Chris: Yes, a few. But nothing serious. On the third day, Tara hurt her foot. But that got better quickly. Also, there was a lot of heavy rain during the first week and we got very wet!

请根据Chris Jones 的回答,从A、B、C、D、E、F六个选项中选择恰当的问题填入相应的五个空格中。

A. How long did it take to find a suitable elephant?
