We go to school five days a week. I get to school at seven thirty, and{#blank#}1{#/blank#}do you get to school?     Four years ago when I was a boy of 11, I got into the biggest trouble as a kid. It was a Saturday morning. Both my parents were out, leaving me and my 10-month-old sister home alone. Anyway, my sister was still asleep in her room. In fact I had the house to myself. I decided to do some drawing. Soon I gave up. Nothing was on TV, so I felt bored and touched the candles on the shelf …I had an idea! What would happen if I set fire to some kitchen paper? Well, of course it went on fire, but it wasn't the tiny flame(火苗 ) I'd expected, and I couldn't blow it out. I threw it on the floor, and then luckily got my dad's boots(靴子) and stamped it out.

    I thought I was safe until there was a huge hole in my room. When my mum came home later, she smelt the smoke immediately. She dropped the shopping bag, luckily for me, over the hole. I thought this meant she would never see it. However, after running round the house checking for a fire, she of course picked up the bag and saw the hole. Next I was grounded(关禁闭) and in trouble for months. Even worse, the hole was still there, reminding me of what I did.

    London is such a wonderful city. It is very large. The Thames River runs1the city from west to east. So the city has2parts: the South and the North. In the North, there are important buildings, shops, big parks and interesting places.

    The weather in London is good.  In winter it is not very cold and in summer it is not very hot3the city is near the sea.  People say4London is a foggy city and it often rains.  It is true.

    Last year, when I5in London I met one of the6fogs in years.  You could hardly see your hand in front of your face.  Cars and buses moved along with their lights on. When evenings fell, the weather7even worse.  The fog was as thick as milk. 8the buses and cars stopped. I happened9an important meeting on the other side of the town, but it was impossible to find a car. I had to get there10.

   Hye-seung Hyun is a girl from South Korea韩国). She lives with her parents, sister and brother in Seoul. What isher school day like?

   Hyungets up at seven. Her family usually eats breakfast at half past seven. Momoften makes breakfast.

   Hyungoes to school at 8:15. Classes in the morning are from 9:00 to 12:00. Thereare usually three lessons. Hyun loves art best.

   Hyunhas lunch at school at 12:30. She doesn't have time to go home. Classes in theafternoon are from 13:00 to 15:00.

   Afterhaving a swimming lesson in the afternoon, Hyun has dinner at six. Afterdinner, she practices English and the piano. She goes to bed at 22:00. Beforeit, she talks with her family for some time.

Jane is a middle school student. She is a beautiful girl. She likes nice shoes and she usually wears new shoes. She thinks new shoes make her look great. 

One day, Miss Lee finds that Jane is unhappy. She asks Jane, "Why are you not happy？" Jane answers, "I want to buy a pair of new shoes, but my parents don't buy them for me. They don't love me. " Miss Lee thinks for a while, and then she says, "Today, I have some homework for you—count(数) your parents' shoes and tell me the number(数量)tomorrow. "

The next day, Miss Lee asks Jane, "Do you count your parents' shoes？"

"Yes, my father has three pairs of shoes and my mother has four pairs of shoes. "

"How many pairs of shoes do you have？"

"Twenty，" Jane's face turns red.

"No, I am not. I don't want new shoes now. My parents do a lot for me. I know they love me. Now I want to save(节约) some money to buy shoes for my parents to show (表达) my love for them. "

 Videos of 77-year-old Xu Xiuzhen, who speaks different languages with foreigners while working at a place of interest selling water, postcards and headdress flowers, have made her famous.

Xu's village is located at the foot of Moon Hill, which is a popular tourist attraction. She has been working asa tour guide in Yangshuo since 1998.

 To support her family, Xu, who dropped out of junior school in the third grade, began to learn different languages in order to attract more foreign customers.

 Xu said she would convert(转换) words in any language into Chinese characters based on their pronunciation and then memorize them.

 Repcating the words in her head before going to bed and immediately after waking up has made it easier for her to join in basic conversations with foreigners, she said.

 Over the past 20 years, Xu has taught herself 11 foreign languages, including English, Sparish, Japanese and Korean. Xu has also become one of the busiest tour guides in Yangshuo. She draws à large crowd of tourists every day, especially foreign visitors. Not satisfied to simply serve as a tour guide, she now owns a popular restaurant and operates a hotel as well.

"More and more foreign tourists are coming to Yangshuo, and I hope they will feel at home here with my help," she said.
