I was raised in New York City where it's very cold every winter. In the sixth grade, a teacher offered {#blank#}1{#/blank#} (bring) some students to a homeless shelter after school. I went with my friends and the teacher for several weeks. {#blank#}2{#/blank#}, I continued to volunteer to help when they stopped going together. Because I was good {#blank#}3{#/blank#} sewing, I was told to help out with the sewing kit when any guests needed some repairs. Throughout high school I continued to come each week after school, setting up my sewing kit which {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (grow) larger and larger. I got to know the guests who came {#blank#}5{#/blank#} (regular).

    Later on, I started {#blank#}6{#/blank#}sewing club with my friend and we taught {#blank#}7{#/blank#} (we) fellow students how to sew. We made heart-shaped pillows for sick {#blank#}8{#/blank#} (child) and the elderly. Every time it rained I would think about the umbrellas {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (design) before.     There has been a recent trend in the food service industry toward lower fat content and less salt．This trend，which was started by the medical community（医学界）{#blank#}1{#/blank#} a method of fighting heart disease，has had some unintended side{#blank#}2{#/blank#}（effect） such as overweight and heart disease---the very thing the medical community was trying to fight．

    Fat and salt are very important parts of a diet．They are required{#blank#}3{#/blank#}（process） the food that we eat，to recover from injury and for several other bodily functions．When fat and salt {#blank#}4{#/blank#}（remove） from food，the food tastes as if it is missing something．As{#blank#}5{#/blank#}result，people will eat more food to try to make up for that something missing．Even {#blank#}6{#/blank#}（bad），the amount of fast food that people eat goes up．Fast food{#blank#}7{#/blank#}（be） full of fat and salt； by {#blank#}8{#/blank#} （ eat） more fast food people will get more salt and fat than they need in their diet．

    Having enough fat and salt in your meals will reduce the urge to snack（吃点心） between meals and will improve the taste of your food．However，be {#blank#}9{#/blank#} （care） not to go to extremes．Like anything，it is possible to have too much of both，{#blank#}10{#/blank#} is not good for the health．

    Once James Thornhill, a famous English painter, was asked {#blank#}1{#/blank#}(paint) some pictures on the walls of the king's palace in English. Then workers were sent for and {#blank#}2{#/blank#}big platform(平台) was made {#blank#}3{#/blank#} the help of a worker, Thornhill started painting on the platform. They worked for a whole year {#blank#}4{#/blank#} at last the pictures were ready.

    Thornhill was happy when he looked at the pictures, for they were {#blank#}5{#/blank#} (real) beautiful. He looked at them for a long time, and then took one step back and looked again. If I cry out, he will take another step, fall off the platform and surely be killed." So the worker quickly took some paint and threw {#blank#}9{#/blank#} at the picture.     Roofs and windows of buildings aren't the only surfaces that can be used to produce solar power. In China,{#blank#}1{#/blank#}（construct）has begun of the country's first solar highway, in which solar panels are placed underneath transparent concrete.

    The solar highway is a 2 km stretch（一段）of road{#blank#}2{#/blank#}（lie）on the Jinan City Expressway, and it's divided into three layers. The see-through concrete protects a set of solar panels of two{#blank#}3{#/blank#}（size）. Beneath the solar panels{#blank#}4{#/blank#}（be）a layer that separates them from the damp ground.

    The road{#blank#}5{#/blank#}（it）has already been completed, and now it's only a matter of connecting the grid（输电网）,{#blank#}6{#/blank#}is expected to be finished by the end of the year alongside the completion of the Jinan Expressway's south section.

    This isn't the first solar road China has worked on. Earlier this year, the Qilu Transportation Development Group, also handling the Jinan Expressway solar road,{#blank#}7{#/blank#}（build）a 160-meter- long solar road in{#blank#}8{#/blank#}city of Jinan. It has the ability of heating up to keep the highway clear{#blank#}9{#/blank#}snow and ice* and is able to{#blank#}10{#/blank#}（wireless） charge electric vehicles. The new solar highway is expected to one day be equipped with the same features.

    Two new satellites of BeiDou Navigation (导航) Satellite System (BDS){#blank#}1{#/blank#}(send) into space on a Long March-3D carrier rocket from the Xichang Satellite Launch Center in Sichuan Province, China at 2:07 a.m. on November 19, 2018. The satellites entered a Medium Earth orbit (轨道) {#blank#}2{#/blank#}(safe) more than three hours later and will work with 17 other BDS-3 satellites already in space. They are also the 42^nd and 43^rd{#blank#}3{#/blank#}(member) of the BDS satellite family.

    China launched these satellites with the aim of providing navigation services{#blank#}4{#/blank#}countries and regions which participate in the Belt and Road Proposal by the end of 2018. “This is a key and{#blank#}5{#/blank#}(value) step for BDS developing from a Chinese experimental system to a regional and then a global navigation system,” said Yang Changfeng, chief expert{#blank#}6{#/blank#}contributed much to the BeiDou system. The positioning{#blank#}7{#/blank#}(accurate) of the BDS-3 system has been improved to 2.5 meters to 5 meters, said Yang.

    {#blank#}8{#/blank#}(name) after the Chinese term for the Big Dipper, the BeiDou system has been serving China for 18 years where another six BDS-3 satellites will be put into the Medium Earth orbit from 2019 to 2020. The system is expected{#blank#}9{#/blank#}(provide) first-class services around{#blank#}10{#/blank#}globe by the end of 2020.

    Recently Lindsay hasn't felt herself. She was a really good student, but her grades {#blank#}1{#/blank#} (fall) since three months ago.
