My little brother, Daniel, was only 2 years younger than me, but I made it my duty to look after him, though he probably didn't know it.
Once we two wore life jackets and began our sailing in the 1. We made our way past the cliffs (峭壁). The sea was mad, but it was no trouble for us2rowing experience. We felt surprised at the beauty of the scene—clear blue sky and3 water.
In minutes the blue sky became windy and dark. Waves (波浪) hit the coast and our 4went up and down in the wave. I looked back at Daniel to make sure he was OK, 5he was.
I got too close to a rock on nay left side. But before I could move away, a strong wave swept up my boat and pushed me toward the rock. I tried to keep my 6 . But I was going right to the rock! Suddenly, my boat was broken by the rock. I 7 into the water. After my head broke the surface (水面) , I looked around but my boat was nowhere to be seen. The waves were too strong. I could 8move. The water pulled me and pushed me at its will.
I could see my brother 30 metres away. He was just away from the dangerous white water and rocks, still upright, in his boat. If he came 9, he would fall into the water, too. He wouldn't have the 10 to fight. But Daniel was already on his way, rowing as fast as he could. I caught hold of the back of his boat. Finally my feet touched the coast. We shared a quick hug and we both lay on the coast.

There was a class of students who were very unruly (难管教的). None of the teachers wanted to teach them. So the headmaster called a teacher who had just quit her job at a different school. He asked her if she would like to come in and teach at the school the one term. She agreed.
The headmaster decided not to tell the teacher about the class, afraid that she would be seared off. After the new teacher had been on the job for a month, the headmaster sat in the class to see how things were going. To his surprise, the students were well-behaved. After the class, the headmaster praised the teacher for her work. She thanked him for giving her such a well-behaved class to teach. But the headmaster said he really didn't deserve (值得) any thanks.
She laughed and told him, "You see, I discovered your secret on my first day here. I looked in the desk and found a list of the students' IQ scores. I knew that they're very smart and I would have to work really hard to make school interesting for them. "
She opened the desk and the headmaster saw a list with the students' names and the numbers 136, 145, 127, 128, and so on written next to the names.
The headmaster laughed. Those weren't their IQ scores, but their locker (储物柜) numbers!
Are you curious about how planes stay in the air? Do you wonder why putting gas into cars causes the wheels to turn? Do you like to design and create new things? If you do, a career in mechanical (机械的) engineering might be right for you!
A mechanical engineers job is to come up with and design mechanical systems. Mechanical systems can include machine design, heating and cooling equipment (设备) and product design. Products like the latest mobile phone begin with an engineer coming up with the idea.
Mechanical engineers are in high demand right now. That means that there are a lot of job openings for mechanical engineers, but there aren't enough people to fill those jobs. Because there is a high need for engineers and the work requires special knowledge, engineers get paid more than sonic other careers.
To be a mechanical engineer, you need to graduate from college. During your years in college, you will learn problem solving skills that will help you to succeed as an engineer.
Problem solving is very important in the field of mechanical engineering. People in this career need to be able to think differently about problems to find the best way. You also need to be creative, because you may need to make something that has never been made before. Attention to details is important, as well. Many designs depend on a lot of little details that need to work together.
As with many other jobs, mechanical engineers need to be able to work well with other people. Some jobs can be done with just one person, but more often mechanical engineers are working on a team to complete a project. If an engineer cannot manage his or her time well, the whole team gets delayed (耽搁), which is not good for the company.
