There has been a recent trend in the food service industry toward lower fat content and less salt. This trend, which was started by the medical community（医学界）{#blank#}1{#/blank#}a method of fighting heart disease, has had some unintended side{#blank#}2{#/blank#}(effect) such as overweight and heart disease—the very thing the medical community was trying to fight.

    Fat and salt are very important parts of a diet. They are required{#blank#}3{#/blank#}(process) the food that we eat, to recover from injury and for several other bodily functions. When fat and salt{#blank#}4{#/blank#}(remove) from food, the food tastes as if is missing something. As {#blank#}5{#/blank#} result, people will eat more food to try to make up for that something missing. Even {#blank#}6{#/blank#} (bad),  the amount of fast food that people eat goes up. Fast food {#blank#}7{#/blank#}  (be) full of fat and salt; by {#blank#}8{#/blank#} (eat) more fast food people will get more salt and fat than they need in their diet.

    Having enough fat and salt in your meals will reduce the urge to snack(吃点心) between meals and will improve the taste of your food. However, be {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (care) not to go to extremes. Like anything, it is possible to have too much of both, {#blank#}10{#/blank#} is not good for the health.

    I remember the occasion when mother sent me to the main road, about twenty yards away from our house, to invite a passing group of seasonal work－seekers for a meal. She{#blank#}1{#/blank#}(instruct) me to take a basket along and collect dry cow dung(牛粪) for making a fire. I was then to prepare the meal for the group of work－seekers.

    {#blank#}2{#/blank#} thought of making an open fire outside at midday,and{#blank#}3{#/blank#}(cook)in a large three－legged pot in that intense heat, was sufficient to upset even an angel. I did not manage to hide my feelings from my mother and, after serving the group, she called me to the veranda(走廊){#blank#}4{#/blank#} she usually sat to attend to her sewing and knitting.

    {#blank#}5{#/blank#} straight into my eyes, she asked “Why did you get angry{#blank#}6{#/blank#} I requested you to prepare a meal for those poor people?”{#blank#}7{#/blank#} my attempt to deny her blame，using the heat of the fire and the sun as an excuse for my rude behavior, mother, she gave me a firm look，{#blank#}8{#/blank#}(say), “You cannot detect what trouble may lie ahead of you.”

    I{#blank#}9{#/blank#} (sudden) realized that if I had refused to offer this group of people a meal,{#blank#}10{#/blank#}would be impossible that in my travels some time in the future,I would get these individuals' help.

    Change is much easier when you have many supporting partners and unlimited resources. But, since it is often the shock of a death, divorce or some other life tragedy that {#blank#}1{#/blank#}(push) us out of our comfort zone to take care of ourselves, it can mean{#blank#}2{#/blank#}(force) to start to be independent, which for many of us is the scariest part of all.

    Probably the most difficult thing about seeking significant change is doing it {#blank#}3{#/blank#}you don't have financial or emotional tools available to make the process go {#blank#}4{#/blank#}(smooth). But sometimes reaching our full potential means working without {#blank#}5{#/blank#}safety net. For those truly {#blank#}6{#/blank#}(devote) to their mission, having fewer resources can be a surprising blessing as it forces them to get {#blank#}7{#/blank#}(create)and explore new paths.

    I don't know if it's possible to leave this world{#blank#}8{#/blank#}zero regrets. Because of the natural life cycles and the fact that sometimes it's the tragedy that causes our awakenings, we often realize it too late to avoid certain painful {#blank#}9{#/blank#}(outcome).

    Please keep in mind that the choice belongs to each of us. We all have the power to change and give more intentional {#blank#}10{#/blank#}(direct) to the remainder of our lives.

    Chinese President Xi Jinping has praised a group of middle school students for their efforts in satellite design. He said he was pleased with their curiosity and bravery in {#blank#}1{#/blank#} (science) exploration. The president also wished the teachers and students in Bayi School {#blank#}2{#/blank#} happy new year.

    Xi made the praise in a letter {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (write) to the students in Beijing's Bayi School on Saturday.
