Schools change PE classes to help students recover* from COVID-19*.

On March 17, Beijing made changes to the PE test in the 2023 zhongkao: All students will get good scores if they take the exam. 

Some cities such as Taiyuan canceled* the 1, 000-meter and 800-meter runs. Other cities like Wenzhou let students choose if they would like to run in the exam. This is to make it safe for students after recovering from COVID-19.

Knowing about your health

At the start of the term, every student in Xi'an Jingkai No. 3 Middle School did a survey*. 

The questions were:

●How many days did it take you to recover?

"The school wants to make a plan for the PE classes according to students' health. "said their PE teacher Liu Na. "Students feel differently after COVID-19. Some get tired easily, so we keepan eye on each student's feelings. "Liu said. 

"Students in Grade Nine are happy because they don't need to take the 1, 000-meter run test for zhongkao. Most students welcome this new change. But some students are really good atrunning, they are not happy because they won't have advantages anymore, "Liu added. 

Students now are having easier exercise such as dancing, fun games, sit-ups and walking. So they can improve* their health slowly. What is your PE class like now?

Good and bad manners make up the social rules of a country. They are not always easy to learn because they're often not written in books. Let's have a{#blank#}1{#/blank#}. at some social rules in Britain.

Visitors to Britain often see British people wait in queues(行列) in public places, like the bus stop. It is considered impolite to get on a {#blank#}4{#/blank#}. without waiting your turn in the queue. Queuing is a national habit in Britain and it's considered good manners to wait your turn. 

In some countries, it's considered bad manners to eat on the street. {#blank#}5{#/blank#}, in Britain, it's common for you to see people having a snack ahead{#blank#}6{#/blank#} you on the street. 

British people used {#blank#}7{#/blank#} (be) surprised to see young children weren't usually taken out to restaurant late at night. And if they {#blank#}8{#/blank#} (make) a noise in a restaurant, it was regarded as impolite behavior. Nowadays, children are playing a more active role and they {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (accept) in many pubs and restaurants. 

Recently, many British companies have banned smoking in the offices and canteens. Smoking is a also banned on the London. Underground, in cinemas and on most buses. If someone breaks the rule, he/she {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (pay) for it. In general, it'sbecoming less acceptable to smoke in a public place than before. Social rules are an important part of every country. 

The British have an expression for following these "unwritten rules": When in Rome, do as Romans do. 

Should children do housework? Different people have different ideas. Some parents will say that their children are too busy for housework. Other parents will ask their children to do housework，but the housework doesn't get done. That's a problem. 

Doing housework is good for children. Doing housework helps them develop an awareness of the needs of others. One small study，done over a period of 25 years，found that young adults will succeed in their mid﹣20s depend on whether they took part in housework tasks at the age of 3 or 4. Those who early shouldered responsibilities developed a sense of responsibility in other areas of their lives. 

But few kids are doing much around the house at all. In a survey of 1，000 American parents，75 percent said they believed doing housework made kids" more responsible". Yet only 36 percent of those said they required their children to do housework. 

Sports and homework are not the housework﹣free reasons. The goal，after all，is to raise a kind of adults who can balance a caring role in their families and communities. Housework teaches that balance. 

What should you do when getting children to do housework? Never accept their excuses. Don't worry if you must repeat yourself again and again. If you're spending more time getting the child to do housework than it would take to do it yourself，then you're doing it right. Can a payment help?I don't think so. If you're trying to teach kids to shoulder the responsibility of a home，paying them for housework is not the right choice.

Uncle Alm looks not so happy because he doesn't want Heidi to live with him. He says in a 1 voice, "Take your things and come with me." Then he opens the door and Heidi 2 him into the house. "Where am I going to sleep, Grandpa?" Heidi asks. "Wherever you want."

"For soap operas, I can't really{#blank#}2{#/blank#}them. They are long and {#blank#}3{#/blank#}.Some are meaningless. They usually make {#blank#}4{#/blank#}want to sleep. But I love {#blank#}5{#/blank#}shows such as football games and basketball games. I like watching the World Cup on TV best. I think all the games are interesting and exciting. {#blank#}6{#/blank#}do I think of game shows? I like them, too. I think I can{#blank#}7{#/blank#}a lot of things from them. What{#blank#}8{#/blank#} talk shows? I don't{#blank#}9{#/blank#}them. When there are no my favorite shows on TV, sometimes I watch talk shows. {#blank#}10{#/blank#} if there is a sports game, I choose to watch the sports game. "
