Once a group of 50 people was attending a seminar. Halfway{#blank#}1{#/blank#} his talk, the speaker stopped and decided{#blank#}2{#/blank#}(create) a group activity. He went around the hall and gave each person a balloon. Each one was asked to write his or her name on the balloon{#blank#}3{#/blank#}(use) a marker pen. It was chaos. At the end of the five minutes no one could find their own balloon.

    Now each person was asked to randomly collect{#blank#}7{#/blank#}balloon and give it to the person whose name was on it. Within two minutes everyone had their own balloon. When everyone quieted down, the speaker began to talk, saying that this is exactly{#blank#}8{#/blank#}was happening in our lives.

    We may like to think of{#blank#}9{#/blank#}(us) more important than others, but our happiness sometimes lies in the happiness of other people. Give them their happiness {#blank#}10{#/blank#}you will get your own happiness.

    Researchers from the University of Michigan have found that astronauts' brains change shape during spaceflight. It is the first study {#blank#}1{#/blank#} (look) into how the brain changes in space. Researchers looked at high-tech MRI(磁共振成像)pictures of the brains of 26 astronauts who spent time in space. Twelve of the {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (astronaut) spent two weeks on the Space Shuttle, and 14 spent six months on the International Space Station. All of them {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (experience) increases and decreases in the size of {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (differ) parts of the brain. The longer an astronaut spent in space ,the {#blank#}5{#/blank#} (big) the size differences were.

    The research produced some {#blank#}6{#/blank#} (interest) findings. One was that on gravity means fluids do not drop in the body, {#blank#}7{#/blank#} there is a shift in the brain's position inside the skull. The brain becomes either smaller or bigger. The findings could help doctors to treat problems that affect the brain's function. They could treat people with problems {#blank#}8{#/blank#} (cause)by long-term bed rest. They could also help those who have a build-up of fluid in the brain, which can lead {#blank#}9{#/blank#} brain damage. We will understand more about {#blank#}10{#/blank#} neurons(神经元)in the brain connect. The findings will also help future trips to Mars.

    As you prepare your trip, make sure you have the right paperwork. Also, make sure you travel with proper medical insurance, so that if you are sick or injured during your travel, you will be able to get treatment.     Skin is not only large, but it is important. One of its jobs is to protect us, {#blank#}1{#/blank#} keeps bad things out. But sometimes it fails. {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (extreme) small bugs, called mites, can get under our skin. And when they do, they cause itching and great discomfort. So, to get under someone's skin means to annoy them or to bug them. That's just one definition of the {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (express) "to get under someone's skin." It can also mean that someone is very {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (attract) to you. You can't stop thinking about them. You might even be obsessing （着迷）about them.

    There are many ways {#blank#}5{#/blank#} (describe) people using the word "skin." If someone is thick-skinned they are not easily hurt emotionally. You can criticize them or be unkind to them and it simply rolls off their back. Thin-skinned people, {#blank#}6{#/blank#}, are easily hurt by criticism, even if it is not too severe. You have to be careful about {#blank#}7{#/blank#} you say to thin-skinned people so as not to hurt their feelings.

    If someone is suddenly very {#blank#}8{#/blank#} (scare), you can say they nearly jumped out of their skin! For example, one day I saw my friend Sierra {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (wait) at a bus stop. She was wearing headphones and did not hear me come up behind her. So, when I {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (touch) her shoulder, she nearly jumped out of her skin!

    What makes the sea tum red and causes thousands of fish to die？As far back as anyone could remember, the blame was placed on the "red tides." In 1947, scientists finally connected the red tides with a microscopic sea organism(有机体){#blank#}1{#/blank#}(call)the dinoflagellate.

    The dinoflagellate is so tiny {#blank#}2{#/blank#} 6, 000 of these organisms may be contained in {#blank#}3{#/blank#} single drop of water. It stands on the borderline between plant and animal in its classification, it produces its own food, as plants do. But it moves {#blank#}4{#/blank#}(free)and eats other organisms, as animals do.

    Dinoflagellates are normally only one of the many kinds of organisms found in plankton. Plankton is the name given to all very small {#blank#}5{#/blank#}(form)of sea life. However, when the air and water {#blank#}6{#/blank#}(be)calm and warm, dinoflagellates multiply with {#blank#}7{#/blank#}(amaze)sped. The surface of the water appears {#blank#}8{#/blank#}(cover)with a red carpet.

    The dinoflagellates give off a poison. Many fish die. Their bodies are washed up on the beach. Beaches are not fit {#blank#}9{#/blank#} any use. Fish that are not killed may become {#blank#}10{#/blank#}(poison)to animals or people who eat them. Commercial fishing comes to a stop.

    As dinoflagellates consume all the food and oxygen in an area, they die. After a time, the sea returns to normal. But when conditions are right, the red tide comes again.
