When I lived in Boston, I taught English as a second language to adult students from around the world. On the last day, they threw a nice party. I was amazed they had learned enough English {#blank#}1{#/blank#} （arganize） such an event altogether. At the end of the party, they proudly handed me a gift box. After the box {#blank#}2{#/blank#} （open）, I gently lifted a beautiful coat from it. "We went shopping for a new coat!" they all shouted {#blank#}3{#/blank#} wonderfully perfect English.

Lauren quit her job {#blank#}1{#/blank#}a chef and chose a different profession. She wanted to travel to different destinations and posted pictures {#blank#}2{#/blank#}her blog. Later she decided to become Australia's first {#blank#}3{#/blank#}(profession)photo blogger. She first {#blank#}4{#/blank#}(visit)Western Australia for work in 2013. Since then she {#blank#}5{#/blank#}(be)in love with northern WA and has been back six times. Lauren enjoys the beautiful landscape as well as the indigenous Australia. Due to her deep love for nature, she tries to take every opportunity {#blank#}6{#/blank#}(get)outside and admire the natural world in Australia. She also enjoys photographing the {#blank#}7{#/blank#}(rise)sun and animals, such as dolphins and kangaroos. Lauren really hopes to use her photography to make {#blank#}8{#/blank#}impact on people. For example, one of her photos shows a crocodile that is used to passengers {#blank#}9{#/blank#}(throw)food from boats and is becoming familiar with humans, {#blank#}10{#/blank#}could make her a danger to local people over time.

Juleus Ghunta is an award-winning children's author, but growing up, he could barely 1 . Raised by a single mother, who often had to make 2 choices about how to use their limited resources－including a decision to send his oldest sister to school, he had been kept home and had no 3 to books as a child.

When Ghunta finally got the opportunity to attend school, he couldn't 4 words, spell, or read with understanding. The situation was made worse by a series of teachers who made him feel 5 . "They were not very patient, not very kind," he said, "I suffered from a deep sense of loss and shame."

Fortunately, a young teacher decided to start a reading program for 6 students. Ghunta was the first to sign up. "The teacher was 7 kind to me." he said, "She had left me with the gift of literacy, and a deeper appreciation of my value as a human being." Under her patient 8 , Ghunta's reading skills gradually improved, and his sense of inadequacy (不足) began to 9 .

After interacting with the young teacher, Ghunta's life took a new 10 . He graduated from high school with a number of academic awards, and went on to college successfully. Nowadays, he is the author of two children's books about 11 difficult experiences in childhood.

In 2010, Ghunta went back to his old school to 12 his old teacher's name, but in vain. However, he still hopes to 13 her one day, so that he can thank her for seeing his 14 . "I would love for her to see the significant impact she has made on my life, and the ways in which I have carried this 15 of her－the hope, the light, with me－and how it continues to be a source of joy."

Cruz Genet,11, and Anthony Skopick, 10, couldn't agree. Were the birds out on the ice ducks or geese? So on a 1 January evening last year, the two friends ventured onto the 2 pond near their homes, to get a better look. First they tossed a rock onto the ice to3 it. Then they stepped on it. 4 the ice would hold their weight, Anthony took a few steps, then…FOOMP. He crashed through the 5 frozen surface." There was no sound, no crack," he recalled,"I just fell through instantly". Cruz 6 to help his panicked friend. FOOMP— the pond 7 him too.

 The boys were up to their necks in icy water and quickly losing feeling in their limbs. Any chance of their 8 themselves was slipping away. Cruz was sure he was going to die. Anthony's older sister was nearby and started screaming for help.

 John Lavin, a9 driving nearby on his way home, heard her. He quickly 10 . Seeing the boys, he grabbed a nearby buoy (救生圈), 11 off his shoes, and ran into the cold water, chopping(劈) his way through the ice with his free 12 .

 Lavin made his way to Cruz and Anthony and pulled them back to land. When in hospital, doctors discovered that their five- minute 13 in the water had lowered their body 14 nearly ten degrees.

 Fortunately, the boys have fully recovered, though they are still a little awestruck by their 15 neighbor." Just to think," says Cruz," If he weren't there, we could have died."

To enrich students' school life, an excited competition was held on last Saturday on the school playground. Ten boys and ten girls selected by each class lined beside the rope and grasped it, eager waiting for the start. With the whistle blowing, the participants tried their best to pull the rope, while those standing by cheered desperately for him. Eventually, every students of the class won the competition was awarded a delicate notebook.

The competition was highly thought by students. Not only did it build up their bodies, but also strengthen their teamwork. Plus, the competition received positive response from parents and teachers, what made a hit in the circle of WeChat.

In 2014, Amy collapsed from a brain hemorrhage (脑溢血) while working. After a year recovering at home, she 1 a course with the ambition to become a 2 .
