I've dreamed of becoming a writer since I was a teenager. But {#blank#}1{#/blank#} isn't easy to get a book of mine published. {#blank#}2{#/blank#} I've tried hard, none of my books have been published. This is really {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (upset).

    This morning, I received a call from a publisher and {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (tell) once again that there was no way my book would be published. {#blank#}5{#/blank#} (feel) sad, I left home and went to the park near my apartment. At the park, I sat down on the bench near the grass.

    While I was sitting there, I saw a little boy about one and a half years old. He was running on the grass, {#blank#}6{#/blank#} his mother not far behind him. He looked so happy when he enjoyed the {#blank#}7{#/blank#} (free) of running on the grass. He then fell on the grass, but he quickly got up and continued {#blank#}8{#/blank#} (run) as fast as he could again even without looking back at his mother. He was still running with a smile on his face, as if nothing {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (happen).

    Seeing that, I was truly inspired. I {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (sudden) realized that I shouldn't get discouraged after experiencing failure. Instead, I should cheer up and keep on trying.

    One day a rich man took his son on a trip to the country so he could have his son see how poor country people were.

    They stayed one day and one night in the farm-house of {#blank#}1{#/blank#} very poor farm. {#blank#}2{#/blank#} the way back home at the end of the trip the father asked the son, “{#blank#}3{#/blank#} did you think of the trip?”

    The son  {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (reply), “Very nice, Dad.”

    The father then asked, “Did you notice how poor they were?”

    The son said, “Yes, I guess so.”

    The father then added, “What did you learn?”

    To {#blank#}5{#/blank#} question, the son thought for a moment and answered {#blank#}6{#/blank#} (slow), “I learned that we have one dog and they have four. We have a fountain in the garden and they have a small river{#blank#}7{#/blank#} has no end. We have brightly colored {#blank#}8{#/blank#} (lantern) in our garden, while they have the stars. Our garden {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (go) to the edge of our yard, but for their back yard they have the whole horizon.”

    At the son's reply, the rich father was speechless (无语的). His son then said, “Thanks, Dad, for{#blank#}10{#/blank#} (show) me how poor we really are.”

    Jean Little who was born in Taiwan, China, has been living in Canada since the age of seven. In spit of the challenge of{#blank#}1{#/blank#}(she) blindness. Jean began writing as a child and has never stopped. despite{#blank#}2{#/blank#}(limit) vision, she attended regular school {#blank#}3{#/blank#}graduated in 1955 from the University of Toronto with an Honors Degree in English. She taught special need children until 1962. That year, her first book, Mine for Keeps, {#blank#}4{#/blank#}(win)the Little Brown Children's Book Award and since then Jean has written 50 books, {#blank#}5{#/blank#} (include)novels, picture books, autobiography, poetry and short stories, among {#blank#}6{#/blank#}are some of Canada's best-loved works for children, such as Dancing Through the Snow, Mama's Going to Buy You a Mockingbird, Listen for the Singing. Her books {#blank#}7{#/blank#}(translate) into a dozen languages so far and have won many awards.

    In addition {#blank#}8{#/blank#}all her awards, she has received six honorary degrees and is a member of the Order of Canada for her outstanding {#blank#}9{#/blank#}(contribute) Canadian children's literature, and {#blank#}10{#/blank#}(recent) she won the Queen's Diamond Jubilee Medal.

    The dog, later {#blank#}1{#/blank#} (name) Arthur, came up to a Swedish team while the members were sharing a meal in front of a 20_mile race stage through the rough area in Ecuador. One of the {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (athlete), Mikael Lindnord, took pity on the dog wandering near their table and fed {#blank#}3{#/blank#} meatball to it. And that meatball made them friends for life, as far as Arthur was concerned.

The extreme sport of adventure racing includes biking, hiking, and boating that challenge even the {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (strong) humans. Imagine a dirty stray（迷失的）dog trying {#blank#}5{#/blank#} (keep ) up. But Arthur {#blank#}6{#/blank#} (do) keep up. The dog followed the team as they got up to leave. {#blank#}7{#/blank#} (actual), he never stopped following them—swimming alongside the boat of the team, and taking on muddy(泥泞的)slopes when the team hiked.

    Arthur stayed alongside the team for the rest of the {#blank#}8{#/blank#} (compete),but not without cost to his well—being. The dog needed doctor's attention after the six-day race was finished {#blank#}9{#/blank#} the team helped Arthur as much as they could during the event. Arthur's hard work paid off: Lindnord decided to adopt(收养) the dog {#blank#}10{#/blank#} brought him back to Sweden.

    A proverb says, "Time is money". But in my opinion, time is even {#blank#}1{#/blank#} precious than money. Why？{#blank#}2{#/blank#} when money is spent, we can earn it back. However, when time is {#blank#}3{#/blank#}（go） , it will never return. {#blank#}4{#/blank#} is known to all that the time we can use is limited. Therefore we should make {#blank#}5{#/blank#} use of our time to study hard so as to serve our country in {#blank#}6{#/blank#} future. But it is a pity that there are a lot of people {#blank#}7{#/blank#} do not realize the value of time. They waste their precious time smoking, drinking and playing. In {#blank#}8{#/blank#} word, we should form the good habit of {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (save) time. Do not put off what can be done today {#blank#}10{#/blank#} tomorrow.

    We may be very {#blank#}1{#/blank#} (please ) with the rapid progress we have made in every field of study , but we have almost done nothing {#blank#}2{#/blank#} ( improve ) our present examination systems which focus  {#blank#}3{#/blank#} testing the students' memory instead of their ability . As soon as a child begins school , he enters a world of examination  {#blank#}4{#/blank#} will decide his future of job . In fact , a good examination system should encourage students to think for {#blank#}5{#/blank#} ( they ) . But the examination system now forces the students to remember {#blank#}6{#/blank#} is taught to get high marks . Thus the students who come out first in the examination are often the {#blank#}7{#/blank#} ( good ) in memorizing . What's worse , such an examination system often  {#blank#}8{#/blank#} ( drive ) teachers to cram all the time and forces them to train students what to do with the ( {#blank#}9{#/blank#} ( come ) examination .

    There must be {#blank#}10{#/blank#} better way to test a student's true ability as well as their knowledge .
