Long, long ago, a fox1a stork (鹳) to dinner. There was just one dish at this dinner, a clear soup. It was in a shallow bowl. The stork had a long pointed beak (鸟嘴), so she couldn't drink the soup. The fox laughed, and drank all the soup2.

    Later, the stork asked the fox to have dinner with her. She prepared delicious meat and the fox could3it at once. The stork put the meat in a tall jug with a narrow neck. The fox tried to put his nose inside it. Although he could see it, he couldn't4the food. The stork, of course was easily5to pick up the meat with her long beak.
