    The neighbor suddenly choked with sobs, her tears gushing from her eyes. She hugged the girl and said, “ Thank you. This band-aid will cure my wound.”

    For thousands of years, fishes {#blank#}1{#/blank#} (feed) the people of Peru. It was only when the industrial fishing boats got started in {#blank#}2{#/blank#}1950s that people lost interest in the fish. Modern fishery turned most of its catch into fishmeal(鱼饲料) for feeding other animals. In fact, most of the fish {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (catch) yearly around the world are for use other than eating, and 90% of them are {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (perfect) good to eat.

    White is a researcher at the University of British Columbia and he spent years {#blank#}5{#/blank#}(research) into fishery catches around the world. According {#blank#}6{#/blank#} his study, about 27% of ocean fish which were caught became fishmeal or fish oil. Those products were used to feed farmed fish or used in agriculture.

    “There could be a {#blank#}7{#/blank#} (good) use of these fish,” says White. Instead of feeding fish to fish, the fish could feed people, especially those {#blank#}8{#/blank#} need high-quality protein. But the reason why that doesn't happen is a {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (combine) of economics and regulations(法规). In many places, a fisherman can get more money if he sells his catch for fishmeal than if he sells it to the locals for {#blank#}10{#/blank#} meals. And in Peru, a change in how fishes are handled could both satisfy the need to feed the people and supply the fishmeal industry.

    Friendship's Day in India falls on {#blank#}1{#/blank#} first Sunday of August every year. It is celebrated with many activities.

    Young people in India spend the day with their {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (close) friends and have fun together. Most youngsters in India plan a movie or lunch with their best friends. A large group of friends may also go on a drive to tourist places or make a plan {#blank#}3{#/blank#} camping. Some friends go to the supermarkets to do some shopping. On Friendship's Day most stores offer discounted prices for {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (customer) and it is the perfect day to buy something for friends.

    Some friends go to parties {#blank#}5{#/blank#} (organize) by many restaurants in order to attract youngsters. Such parties are very enjoyable. You can get food at a discounted price. Some friends just decide to meet up at someone's home and talk about {#blank#}6{#/blank#} happy time in the past. The time good friends spend {#blank#}7{#/blank#} (sit) together and talking over a cup of coffee is precious and {#blank#}8{#/blank#} (forgettable).

    Long-distance friends call up each other on this day {#blank#}9{#/blank#} wish each other with warm feelings. Some of them even plan to meet up on this particular day. Yet some others plan a {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (surprise) visit just to see their friends in pleasant shock!

    It was my first trip to India, alone. One day, as I {#blank#}1{#/blank#}(walk) through a local market, a ten-year-old boy came over and begged me to buy a book,{#blank#}2{#/blank#}had the words "Interesting India" on its cover. I bought it,{#blank#}3{#/blank#}(think) that when I returned home it would remind me {#blank#}4{#/blank#}my wonderful Indian adventure. The book claimed that India's people were very welcoming of tourists, and never tried{#blank#}5{#/blank#}(cheat) them. As I read I felt deeply touched by these warm words.

Suddenly, a monkey came down from a nearby tree, snatched the book from my hand and took it away, along with my bag which contained all my belongings. I couldn't do anything but stand and stare. Then a man approached me and asked{#blank#}6{#/blank#} I wanted my belongings back. He said it would cost me five US dollars. I had no other choice {#blank#}7{#/blank#}(leave), so I agreed to pay, but only after my bag was returned.

    He blew a whistle and the monkey {#blank#}8{#/blank#}(immediate) threw the bag down. I picked it up and gave him the money. I later learned that {#blank#}9{#/blank#}man made his living this way: tricking tourists.

    This was the {#blank#}10{#/blank#}(bad) thing I ever experienced in "Interesting India".

    Overhead bridges are found in many parts of big cities, especially in places{#blank#}1{#/blank#} traffic is very heavy and crossing the road is dangerous. The purpose of these bridges{#blank#}2{#/blank#}(be) to enable pedestrians to cross roads {#blank#}3{#/blank#}(safe). Overhead bridges are used in very much the {#blank#}4{#/blank#}way as Zebra crossings. They are more efficient although{#blank#}5{#/blank#}(little) convenient because people have to climb up a long flight of steps. This is{#blank#}6{#/blank#}(convenient) especially to older people. When pedestrians use an overhead bridge, they do not hold up traffic. However, when they cross a busy road using a zebra crossing, traffic is held up. This is why the government has built many overhead bridges {#blank#}7{#/blank#}(help) pedestrians and to keep traffic moving at the same time. For their own safety, pedestrians should be encouraged to use them instead of {#blank#}8{#/blank#} (risk) their lives by dashing across the road. Old people, however, may find it a little difficult climbing up and down the steps, but it is still much safer than walking across the road with all the danger of moving traffic. Overhead bridges serve a very useful purpose. Pedestrians, both old and young, should make {#blank#}9{#/blank#} a habit to use them. This will prevent unnecessary accidents and {#blank#}10{#/blank#}(lose) of life.
