Nobody wants to be aged, but{#blank#}1{#/blank#}it comes to visiting cities, most of us want to visit the world's oldest cities. Luoyang is one of the oldest and most {#blank#}2{#/blank#}(attract) cities in the world that I'd like to recommend to you.

    Luoyang stands out{#blank#}3{#/blank#}The oldest continually inhabited (持续居住的) city in Asia. The city is considered to be{#blank#}4{#/blank#}birthplace of Chinese culture and history as well as being one of the Seven Ancient Capitals of China. There  {#blank#}5{#/blank#} (be) no other city in China that has seen so many{#blank#}6{#/blank#}dynasty) like Luoyang.

    With such a long and exciting history, Luoyang has really a lot{#blank#}7{#/blank#}(offer). The longmen Grottoes(龙门石窟), which{#blank#}8{#/blank#}(include) in the world Heritage List since 2000, and many historic Buddhist temples{#blank#}9{#/blank#}(constant) attract tourist from all over the world. Luoyang is also famous for the White Horse Temple, the earliest Buddhist temple{#blank#}10{#/blank#}build) in China. Are you anxious to visit the city?

    Disposing(处理) of waste has been a problem since humans started producing it. As more and more people choose to live close together in cities, the waste disposal problem becomes {#blank#}1{#/blank#}(increase) difficult.

    During the eighteenth century, it was usual for several neighboring towns to get together to select a faraway spot{#blank#}2{#/blank#}a dump site(垃圾场). People {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (transport) household rubbish, rotted wood, and old possessions to the site. Regularly some of the trash was burned and the rest was buried. The {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (pleasant) sights and smells caused no problem because nobody lived close by. Factories mills (制造厂), and other industrial sites also had waste to be disposed of. Those located on rivers often just dumped the unwanted {#blank#}5{#/blank#} (remaining) into the water. Others built huge burners with chimneys to deal with the problem.

    Several facts make these choices {#blank#}6{#/blank#} (accept) to modern society. The first problem is space. Dumps,{#blank#}7{#/blank#}are now called landfills, are most needed in heavily populated areas. Such areas rarely have empty land suitable for this purpose. The land is either too expensive or too close to residential neighborhoods. A long distance dump has been a common practice,{#blank#}8{#/blank#} once farm areas are refusing to accept rubbish from elsewhere, cheap land within trucking distance of major city areas is nonexistent.{#blank#}9{#/blank#} (aware) of pollution dangers has resulted in more strict rules of waste disposal. Pollution of rivers, ground water, land and air is a price people can no longer pay to get rid of waste. The amount of waste, however, continues to grow.

    {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (recycle) efforts have become commonplace, and many towns require their people to take part. Even the most efficient recycling programs, however, can hope to deal with only about 50 percent of a city's reusable waste.

    In Chinese culture, each year is related to{#blank#}1{#/blank#} Chinese animal according to the 12-year cycle. 2018 is an Earth Dog Year. People born during the year of dog {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (believe) to take after some of the animal's characteristics, such as loyalty, patience, and reliability.

    Zodiac(黄道) theory also relates to Chinese elemental theory, {#blank#}3{#/blank#}associates the 12 animals with one of five elements: metal, wood, water, fire, and earth. The five elements {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (combine) with the 12 zodiac signs produce a 60-year cycle. Zodiac animals have both fixed and non-fixed elements attached {#blank#}5{#/blank#}them. For example, the dog (as well as the dragon, ox, and goat) is always associated with the earth element.{#blank#}6{#/blank#} the year of 2018 is considered an earth year according to the Chinese solar calendar, those born in 2018 are considered earth dogs, which carry characteristics like being communicative and responsible at work. Though dogs are{#blank#}7{#/blank#} (general) associated with earth, those born during the metal dog year are believed to be conservative and{#blank#}8{#/blank#} (caution) in nature. As Dogs are not good at communication, {#blank#}9{#/blank#}is difficult for them to convey their thoughts to others. Therefore, Dogs tend to leave others with the {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (impress) that they have a stubborn personality, but they are indeed loyal to their families and friends.

    We all know how good nature can make us feel. The sound of the ocean, the smell of a forest and the way sunlight dances through {#blank#}1{#/blank#} (leaf) help us to relax and think more clearly. The idea {#blank#}2{#/blank#} humans own a deep biological need to connect with nature has been called "Biophilia", {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (mean) "love of life and the living world". Yet, according to the United Nations Population Division, so far the number of us going to urban areas {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (grow) sharply. By 2050, it is estimated that a shocking sixty-eight percent of the world's inhabitants will live in cities. Cities are wonderful places — full of {#blank#}5{#/blank#} (excite), innovation and energy. {#blank#}6{#/blank#} living in a city can be stressful. And the more we live in them, {#blank#}7{#/blank#} more stress we have, leading to increases in mental illnesses {#blank#}8{#/blank#} depression and loneliness. The good news is that the global science community continues to explain the medical benefits of nature on the brain. Through conducting research and sharing information with different organizations, new ideas are being carried out that encourage us {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (step) out of the fast street and reconnect with nature in a {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (rapid) changing world.
