In spite of the fact that I had stayed with my sister for 14 years. I knew one thing—I would not want to be like her. In high school, she was a journalist and it was 1 she talked about. No matter how many times I said it, I 2 myself in "Intro to Journalism" freshman year,3 . Why? That was because my mother wanted me to be a journalist, 

Though it was the4 thing I wanted to do, I got to realize the point of being a journalist. It was 5 writing a report. It was also communicating with people by telling stories. After a short term, I began to see what happened around me 6 —I saw things as7 , which I wanted to share with people who wants to 8 .

In the second semester, I joined the newspaper staff and 9 nearly every position on staff, from designing different columns to taking photographs. I wrote stories, opinions, and almost any other thing for every 10 of the paper.

I loved everything around me, but I found my gift in visual journalism. I had a/an 11 for design and I was12 ready to put in. When I was writing each story, I promised to tell in its entirety. There is possibility that some 13 of a story can't be presented in a paragraph form. That is 14 I came in. I worked to improve the 15 of our magazine every day. But my work is not 16 to this. I also worked to add the web and multimedia 17 the publication. I loved producing content for the newspaper. 18 , I found myself creating less and less through my junior year. Then 1 was thinking up ideas and helping others to do the 19 to make their work happen.

Now, I'm proud to say that I have fully made 20 of what it means to be a good storyteller.

Lauren quit her job {#blank#}1{#/blank#}a chef and chose a different profession. She wanted to travel to different destinations and posted pictures {#blank#}2{#/blank#}her blog. Later she decided to become Australia's first {#blank#}3{#/blank#}(profession)photo blogger. She first {#blank#}4{#/blank#}(visit)Western Australia for work in 2013. Since then she {#blank#}5{#/blank#}(be)in love with northern WA and has been back six times. Lauren enjoys the beautiful landscape as well as the indigenous Australia. Due to her deep love for nature, she tries to take every opportunity {#blank#}6{#/blank#}(get)outside and admire the natural world in Australia. She also enjoys photographing the {#blank#}7{#/blank#}(rise)sun and animals, such as dolphins and kangaroos. Lauren really hopes to use her photography to make {#blank#}8{#/blank#}impact on people. For example, one of her photos shows a crocodile that is used to passengers {#blank#}9{#/blank#}(throw)food from boats and is becoming familiar with humans, {#blank#}10{#/blank#}could make her a danger to local people over time.

In 2011, Nancy Ballard went for a routine check-up that turned into something extraordinary. In fact, she was carrying a painting of a plant she'd done when she arrived at her doctor's San Francisco office. "It would be great if we had artwork like that for our chemotherapy(化疗) rooms," the nurse said. Ballard asked to see one. 

She was shocked by what she found. The walls were dull and bare, and the paint was falling. It was a depressing room for a depressing routine—patients were restricted to chemo drips for perhaps several hours, often with nothing to look at other than those sad walls. Ballard didn't have cancer herself, but she could sympathize with the patients. "I couldn't imagine how anyone could even think about getting healthy in a room like that," she says. As it happened, Ballard's physician, Stephen Hufford, was ill with cancer himself, so finding time to decorate the rooms was low on his to-do list. So Ballard made it her task to brighten up the place. 

She started by emailing 20 local designers. "I wrote, ‘You don't know me. But my heart hurts after seeing these rooms,'" she remembers. She then asked whether they would donate their time and money to transform just one of Dr Hufford's rooms each. 

As it happened, six of them wrote back almost immediately. Six rooms got new paint, light fixtures, artwork and furniture. Dr Hufford was delighted. "All the patients feel relieved of the pain because of it," he said. He even noted that his own tone of voice was different in the rooms and that he was better able to connect with his patients. 

Ballard was so encouraged by the patients' reactions that she created a non-profit organization to raise money and decorate more spaces. Since then, she has worked on 20 projects, including one in Pennsylvania. "We were in Philadelphia for a ribbon-cutting(剪彩), and a woman was there on her third battle with cancer," says Ballard. "When she saw what we'd done, she said, ‘I'm gonna beat it this time. I thought I wasn't going to, but now I know I'm gonna beat it.'"

It was the middle of winter some 30 years ago. I was a young father with three little mouths to 1 . My college education, however, didn't help me to 2 a well-paid job. I was working in a woodcutting business for just above the 3 wage. Working outdoors for 8 hours a day had caused my4 to split (裂开) and bleed at their tips in the cold, dry air. 

That day at work was harder than normal. We 5 workers. Worse still, the machines kept breaking down. When the day finally ended, I took off the gloves and 6 my painful hands. The splits were 7 than ever and I had bled through the band-aids again. I tried to 8 my back but it hurt badly. I had never felt that tired and 9 before, wondering why life was so tough and how long I could keep doing this.

A grandmother was filmed taking notes during a Marvel superhero movie marathon, which at this point includes 30 movies. She wanted to be closer to her1 and talk to them about their2 .

Cheryl Skiados, who is in her 70s, has 13 grandkids3 , aged from 6 to 22, and they're all big Marvel fans. Rather than writing off their interests as silly, as grandparents are 4 doing, she decided to try to get on the same 5 as them.

The Aviation Industry Corporation of China (AVIC), China's leading aircraft maker, created the country's first fully solar-powered drone (无人机). The large drone, Qimingxing 50, took off at 5:50 pm on September 3rd, 2022, from an airport in Yulin of Shaanxi Province and stayed in the air for 26 minutes before landing on the same runway. AVIC said that all systems of the unmanned plane functioned well on its first flight.

Powered by six electric motors with solar batteries, the drone is designed to conduct long-time operations in near space. Near space is that part of Earth's atmosphere at altitudes of 20 to 100 kilometers. It is above the top altitudes of commercial airliners but below orbiting satellites.

Qimingxing 50, also called "quasi-satellite", features high operational efficiency and eco-friendliness and will be tasked with high-altitude reconnaissance (侦察), forestry fire monitoring, atmospheric environmental inspection, aerial mapping, communication signal relay and other operations.

"Thanks to its capability to conduct very long endurance flights in near space, the drone can essentially become a substitute for satellites," a Chinese aerospace expert said. Satellite services are not always available due to the limited number of satellites and relatively fixed schedules of overhead passes. In time-sensitive missions, near-space drones can offset these disadvantages, the expert said, noting that satellite services could also be damaged in wartime, so near-space drones could replace them in this occasion.

The successful first flight of the Qimingxing-50 lays a solid foundation for the development of key technologies in the country's new energy field, the composite (复合的) material field, which will enhance China's ability to perform tasks in near space and over far oceans. AVIC will seize the opportunity to increase investment and speed up the development of large solar-powered unmanned aircraft.
