Once a group of 50 people was attending a seminar. Halfway {#blank#}1{#/blank#} his talk, the speaker stopped and decided  {#blank#}2{#/blank#}(create) a group activity. He went around the hall and gave each person a balloon. Each one was asked to write his or her name on the balloon {#blank#}3{#/blank#}(use) a marker pen. It was chaos. At the end of the five minutes no one could find their own balloon.

    Now each person was asked to randomly collect {#blank#}7{#/blank#}balloon and give it to the person whose name was on it. Within two minutes everyone had their own balloon. When everyone quieted down, the speaker began to talk, saying that this is exactly {#blank#}8{#/blank#} was happening in our lives.

    We may like to think of {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (us) more important than others, but our happiness sometimes lies in the happiness of other people. Give them their happiness {#blank#}10{#/blank#} you will get your own happiness.

    This happened a week ago. That morning, I {#blank#}1{#/blank#}(accidental) got on the wrong bus to work because I was reading the news on my phone. I had to walk several{#blank#}2{#/blank#}(block) back to my office on a path I had never taken before.

    On the way, I met a man {#blank#}3{#/blank#}(sit) on a beach, who looked very unhappy, so I asked him what was wrong{#blank#}4{#/blank#}him. He said his car {#blank#}5{#/blank#}(steal) and he had no money to get to the airport to meet his wife. I told him I could help him and asked him to wait there for me. I went to {#blank#}6{#/blank#} nearby bank and got some cash. When I returned, the man was still standing there, watching me get close to him. When I gave him the money, he hugged me, thanked me,{#blank#}7{#/blank#} started crying! I wished him{#blank#}8{#/blank#} (safe) to get to the airport.

    I stopped at my usual restaurant for my breakfast and, at the door, I met {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (other) man who politely said, “I don't want your money, but could you help me got some food?” I said yes and paid for this man's order. I wished him a good day.

    I thought I was {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (luck) to meet the two people who needed help. I felt glad to help them.

    David was a normal boy, but he had been born deaf. He was well known to everyone in town, and they were all very fond {#blank#}1{#/blank#} him. Unfortunately, he always seemed to be treated {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (different) from everyone else.

    David didn't like this very much. But the person {#blank#}3{#/blank#} disliked this the most was his friend Michael, Michael decided that things had to change. So he managed to persuade other people in town {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (choose) one day of the festival for deaf people this year. During that whole day everyone in town would have to wear earplugs (耳塞). The day {#blank#}5{#/blank#} (call) The Day of Silence, and when it arrived everyone stuck plugs in their ears. As the hours passed, people began to realize {#blank#}6{#/blank#} difficult life was for the deaf. Soon no one was thinking of David as a deaf person. {#blank#}7{#/blank#} (use) his usual gestures, David was the one who could communicate best with everyone. They were {#blank#}8{#/blank#} (surprise) at his ability to find solutions to almost any problem. They realized all David needed was a little {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (much) time than others to communicate. That was the only difference.

    It was on this day {#blank#}10{#/blank#} everyone realized they have to give people a chance to show how useful they are.

    When I first heard about the Belt and Road Initiative (“一带一路”倡议). I thought about something simple and straightforward — like a fragrant cup of tea.

    For centuries, tea has brought {#blank#}1{#/blank#}(culture), communities, and people closer together. In the past centuries, tea {#blank#}2{#/blank#}(connect) economies through trade and investment. The Belt and Road Initiative holds a similar promise, {#blank#}3{#/blank#}is about connecting cultures, communities, economies, and people. It is about awaking ancient trade routes and {#blank#}4{#/blank#}(build) new ones. It is also about adding new economic flavors by creating infrastructure (基础建设) projects based on 21st century expertise and standards. Delivering on this promise is not an easy task, {#blank#}5{#/blank#}doing so could bring great benefits.

    First, high-quality infrastructure could help stimulate potential global {#blank#}6{#/blank#} (grow), and raise the incomes of millions of people. As the Chinese proverb {#blank#}7{#/blank#} (go), “To become rich, one must first build roads.” A second benefit is greater inclusiveness. Think of {#blank#}8{#/blank#}(improve) roads in rural areas that can boost productivity and access to health services. By sharing the benefits of investment and knowledge more broadly, improvement will be {#blank#}9{#/blank#}(strong) and more inclusive. A third benefit is stronger economic cooperation. This would help boost global trade, investment, and financial cooperation, making {#blank#}10{#/blank#} easier to share the benefits of growth more widely. All this is good for consumers, good for productivity, and good for poverty reduction.

    All the customers who went to the new supermarket had one strong wish to be the lucky customer who did not have to pay {#blank#}1{#/blank#} her shopping, for the notice inside the entrance {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (say), "Remember, once a week, one of our customers gets free goods. This may be your lucky day!"

    For several weeks, Mrs. Edwards hoped to be one of the lucky {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (housewife) like many of her friends. She never gave up hope. Cupboards in her kitchen {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (fill) with things that she didn't need at all. She dreamed of the day {#blank#}5{#/blank#} the manager of the supermarket would say to her with a smile, "Madam, this is your lucky day. Everything in your basket is free."

    One Friday afternoon, after she had finished shopping and had taken it to her car, she found that she had forgotten to buy some sugar. She rushed {#blank#}6{#/blank#} to the supermarket, {#blank#}7{#/blank#} (get) the sugar and went towards the cash desk. As she did {#blank#}8{#/blank#}, she saw the manager of the supermarket come up to her and said, "{#blank#}9{#/blank#} (congratulate)!
