"Mom! Get my annoying(令人讨厌的)brother off me," I shouted. I woke up because of my brother. It happens almost every day. I got out of bed and put on my clothes hurriedly. Then I realized a huge problem—it was the first day of high school! It meant I had to go to the same school as my brother. But I didn't want to go there. At that exact moment, a thought came into my mind. I had never thought of it before.
I had to go to school in 30 minutes. I had to eat, pack and think of a plan to get my brother embarrassed(尴尬).20 minutes later, I got my bag and slowly walked out of my bedroom. I saw my mom taking the school uniform downstairs and in exactly a second I had a great plan. I quickly ran after my mom and followed her downstairs. Like a cat I hid behind a couch, seeing her put the uniform on the couch and make her way back upstairs. I only had one chance. I quickly wrote something that would make my brother embarrassed on the back of a shirt as my brother ran downstairs. We put on out clothes right away and we wore the same size. It was quite a cold day, so I took a jacket and put it on.
A couple of minutes later, we were in the car and were almost at school. I was secretly waiting for my great plan to happen. I got out of the car and ran to my classroom. I unpacked and decided to take off my jacket, because the day was heating up. Once I took my jacket off, everyone started laughing. I had no idea why everyone was laughing until suddenly I realized what had happened.
Last Friday night I went to a great party. It was a birthday party for my English teacher Mrs Brown. Students in my class all went to celebrate(庆祝) her 40th birthday. We began to prepare for(为……做准备) the party two weeks before that, but Mrs. Brown didn't know anything about it.
We all met at a restaurant at a quarter to seven. There were about 30 people. Mrs. Brown's son took her to the restaurant and they arrived at seven o'clock. Just before seven, we all stayed in one room of the restaurant and it was dark in the room.
When they got to the restaurant, Mrs. Brown's son asked her to go into the room first. Then we all shouted, "Surprise!"
Mrs. Brown was really surprised. She jumped when she heard us. Then we sang "Happy Birthday to You" and she knew what was happening(发生). We all had a great dinner and then a delicious birthday cake.
For her birthday, Mrs. Brown got a beautiful quilt. We all printed(印) our photos on it. So it was a very special quilt.
Mrs. Brown enjoyed the party, and we enjoyed it, too.

A. It's wonderful that you admire them, but try not to compare yourself to them. Instead of trying to be like them, just try to be the best you possible. You will find that you will be much happier when you try to be true to yourself, rather than when you try to be like someone else. B. The only way to break a habit is to force yourself to do something different. A world of exciting and interesting activities is just waiting for you. Write a list of things you've always wanted to do, learn, make, or try. When you feel like playing it, do something else. C. Discuss this with her. Try not to suppose that she talks about you unless you actually hear what she says. But let her know that you are unhappy when she tells secrets around you. If you feel uncomfortable talking to her in person, you could write her a note instead. D. We often hear from kids who are laughed at about their height. They probably don't mean to hurt your feelings. There are advantages and disadvantages to being any size. You might play along and come up with a funny reply. However, if you feel hurt, try talking to a parent or teacher. E. Explain to your friends that you like all of them. You can play with each person or group separately. If they don't like this, then you may want to focus on other friendships until these friends work things out. Another idea is to offer to help your friends solve their problems. |
How to be a friend of yourself?
We often pay attention to developing relationships with others. However, we forget the basic step: being friends of ourselves. How can we have good relationships with others if we don't even have good relationships with ourselves?{#blank#}1{#/blank#}.
First, forgive(原谅) yourself. It's true that you are not perfect, and neither is everybody else. It's normal for everyone to make mistakes.{#blank#}2{#/blank#}.
Second, accept things you can't change. There are many things you cannot change, such as your background and past.{#blank#}3{#/blank#}If you face the things you can't change, just smile and move on.
Third, focus on(聚焦于) your achievements. You can try making a list of your achievements, which do not have to be big things. There are a lot of small but important achievements in our life.{#blank#}4{#/blank#}
Last but not least, stop comparing yourself with others. You are unique.{#blank#}5{#/blank#} Your success is not determined(决定) by other people. Instead, it is determined by your own life purpose.
A. So learn to accept them. B. Therefore, give yourselves forgiveness. C. The following can help you change the situation. D. If you have some good friends, that's already an achievement. E. You can never be like other people and others can never be like you. |
