Seven years ago, Kevin Stephan, then aged 11, was playing baseball when a player accidentally hit him with a bat (球棒).

    Kevin fell down and his heart stopped. Penny Brown, the mother of another player, was watching the game. Penny usually worked in the evenings as a nurse, but luckily that evening she wasn't working. Penny ran to help Kevin and saved his life.

    Nearly seven years later, Kevin was washing up in the kitchen of the Hillview Restaurant in Buffalo, New York State. Normally, 18-year-old Kevin had classes in the afternoon, but that week there were exams and he didn't have any classes. At about 2 p. m. , Penny Brown was having lunch with her family in the restaurant. She was eating when some food got stuck in her throat. She was very frightened because she couldn't breathe.

    Kevin was a volunteer firefighter in his free time and he ran to help. A waitress tried to help her, but the food was still stuck in Penny's throat. Kevin pulled his hands quickly into her stomach and saved Penny's life. He didn't know it was Penny, but his mother, Lorraine Stephan, was also having lunch in the restaurant. She realized that Penny was the woman who saved Kevin's life, seven years ago, at the baseball game. Both Penny and Kevin were completely amazed by the coincidence (巧合)!

As a child, I love playing the piano. I ask my parents to buy me a piano, but 1 have no money. It is too expensive for our family 2 one. I feel sad about that.

 In our school, there 3 a piano, but we can use it only in the music class. After class, our music teacher Mr Smith locks(锁) the door to the piano room, 4 nobody can use the piano.

 Every day, when I pass by the piano room, I always stop and look at the piano. I can feel my 5 dancing at the piano and they look so beautiful. Mr Smith 6 me do that often. He asks me to come to his office and gives me a key to the piano room 7 Monday. I can get into the room before and after school to play the piano. I jump with happiness when I get8 key.

 Now I go to school half an hour early to play the piano and I'm playing very 9 . Mr. Smith's kindness means a lot to me. 10 kind teacher he is! All I want to say to Mr Smith is" Thanks".

Every year, Australia hosts a 543. 7-mile-long ultra-marathon(超级马拉松) race. 

In 1983, a potato farmer named Cliff Young showed up at the start of the race. People {#blank#}1{#/blank#}(意识到) that he was 61 years old and the race was dangerous for him. Cliff Young might {#blank#}2{#/blank#}(死) of tiredness, so some people tried to stop him. 

However, Cliff Young surprised everyone with an amazing {#blank#}3{#/blank#}(胜利). He not only won the race, but {#blank#}4{#/blank#}(设法完成) to break the race record. 

So how did Cliff Young make it? Well, he {#blank#}5{#/blank#}(继续) running throughout the night while other runners were {#blank#}6{#/blank#}(休息). He really had a very strong {#blank#}7{#/blank#}(意志). 

When Cliff Young was awarded the winning prize of $10, 000, he said he {#blank#}8{#/blank#}(实在；的确) didn't know there was a prize. He gave away his prize money to the rest of the runners after him. 

After the win, Cliff Young {#blank#}9{#/blank#}(参加) many ultra- marathon races to raise money for homeless children. His running style which is still popular {#blank#}10{#/blank#}(在国外) is called " The Cliff Shuffle". 

There is a young boy in my class who has a hard time saying some words. His name is Bill, and sometimes kids him . Sometimes, he'll say the same1 twice or he'll stutter(口吃). He's very shy and doesn't say much. 

One day, there was a notice(通知) on the wall to2 people for the school play. 

Days later, we saw Bill's name on the list. We wondered3 he could possibly be in a play. The rehearsals(排演) went on for weeks, and4 the big night came. The show began. At first, he stuttered terribly. Some people5 he was joking, but he wasn't. 

Then, the most amazing thing happened. When the music started, he moved his feet and began to sing. It came out quite well. He had a beautiful voice6 he didn't stutter. He sang more songs than anyone and he danced wonderfully. Bill was a7 person when he sang. 

The next day at school, everyone congratulated(祝贺) Bill. He said that it's common for people who stutter to be able to sing quite well. Science doesn't know why, but it's a 8 . We learned more than a scientific fact that day. 

We learned that9 has things they can't do, and things they can do. We all have to be understanding of that. As for Bill, he still stutters. But sometimes when he has a hard time giving an answer in class, he just stops and 10 the answer. That's always the highlight(高光时刻)of the class. 

Sometimes we all sing along too! It makes us happy to see our friend having such a good time.
