Coming Across Aliens(外星人 )

    It was a fine night. Carl was on his way home from his friend's party.

    While Carl was walking along the path near his house, he saw a 1 in the sky. It landed on the road at once. Three aliens came out. Carl was 2, because he could understand their language. He learned that they had decided to take all the 3 out of the city.

    Carl was worried about this. He called his friends quickly. While he was 4 for them, he looked at the aliens. They pointed at a tree, and then the tree, like a bird, flew quickly 5 the UFO. One by one, many trees flew away. Soon Carl's friends arrived. They asked them to stop, but 6 didn't work. Then Mr. Bright, a police officer, came. He  7 at the aliens, but it still didn't work. One of the aliens pointed at Mr. Bright. Mr. Bright became very small. Everyone was 8 with the aliens. Carl's friend Bill ran to them. He shouted at them in a big 9. To their surprise, the aliens turned away in no time and ran into their UFO. Then the UFO flew away.

    The alarm clock rang. Carl realized that he was lying in his bed. It was just a funny  10.

Most of us might want to do some great things to help others in need. But I found it's not completely(完全地)right.

I'm Wang Ling. This is a true story that happened(发生) to me last Sunday. That day, I planned to go to a bookstore. On the bus, I found that I only had a five-yuan note(纸钞). The bus driver didn't want to wait for me and was going to leave.

Then I looked around and went up to a grandma for some change(零钱). "I'm sorry," the grandma said. "I have no change, either." Just then, I really didn't know what to do. 

"Come here! I can help you," a young man smiled and said. He looked friendly. Then he gave me one yuan. When I was going to give my five yuan to him for the one yuan, he said, "I'm happy that I can help you. You don't need to give me the money. Just keep it."

With thanks, I put that warm coin into the money box on the bus and then sat near the young man. Yes, he seemed not to help me a lot. But his sunny face and kindness were always in my heart.

Lucy's parents were dead, and she had no brothers or sisters. She got her {#blank#}1{#/blank#}(one) job in Jordan family. She looked {#blank#}2{#/blank#} two young children and the house. Mr. Jordan, the {#blank#}3{#/blank#}(child) father, is often away in New York. Mrs. Jordan died 2 years ago. Lucy liked the children, {#blank#}4{#/blank#} she had no friends and felt lonely.

Dick who had very blue eyes and friendly smile, lived {#blank#}5{#/blank#}(near). Lucy and Nick knew each other as time went by. But it was not easy to be friendly with Dick because Mr. Jordan hates him. Mr. Jordan was angry when Lucy went to dinner {#blank#}6{#/blank#} Dick. Dick knew the {#blank#}7{#/blank#}(die) of Mrs. Jordan. And he knew a lot of {#blank#}8{#/blank#}(secret) about Jordan family. Lucy wanted to be {#blank#}9{#/blank#}(happiness) in Jordan family and she loved Dick. How could she make {#blank#}10{#/blank#}(decide) about her life?

 My phone rang. It was a text from an unfamiliar number, showing a photo of a smiling man in his 30s. "What a strange picture to receive!" I thought to myself. 

 For the past three years, I have been getting texts meant for this man, Jared. When the second text came, I was a playful sixth grader. 

"My Mom just told me that the Football Club will host a free barbeque dinner on Saturday! Hope you all will enjoy it, " it said. 

"YUMMMY!" I carefully responded. 

 The story of Jared became deeper. I learned that he was part of the" Bowery Mission, " which sounded like a gaming group. Looking it up, I realized it was an organization that helped poor families. This was around the same time I stopped volunteering in my community. I spent more time taking art classes and trying different sports. I then joined the group texts. When a message came about donating food, I texted back, "Count me in!"

 However, I started to feel bad about this lie. A man sent a long message, talking about the hopeless moments in his life. As I imagined what a good friend Jared could be, I felt ashamed that I was unable to provide the support this man needed and realized that I was not even a good listener to my own friends. 

 Throughout this time, I noticed how much Jared's life has changed and I have also been discovering who I am. Learning from Jared, I have grown out of the naughty self, made more efforts tor my community, and become a more understanding friend. Last month, I received another text. Yet, I replied:" Hey, sorry, this is-not Jared, but I hope he is doing well. "

A husband and wife moved to a new apartment. The apartment had a beautiful view(景色) of the neighboring building. Every 1 , the wife would look out of the window to see what was happening in the neighborhood.

 One morning, as the wife was 2 the window, she saw a neighboring woman hanging out her clothes to dry. "Look at her 3 clothes," she said to her husband.

4 , he went on reading the newspaper and didn't pay any attention to her words. "Perhaps her soap is bad or she does not know how to 5 . I will go to tea ch her someday!" the wife said to herself, shaking 6 head. "I can't believe she is 7 those clothes in public(在公开场合)."

A few mornings later, the 8 was still not clear about the woman's washing habits. Every time the neighboring woman hung out her clothes, the wife would be 9 at how dirty they looked. She couldn't understand why she could 10 wash them clean. "Maybe she has no taste for being beautiful. That is 11 the colours of her clothes on the drying line hardly match(相配)," she said to her husband, with a 12 in his hand again.

 Then, one day, after she looked out of the window as usual, she shouted 13 , "Oh! Look, her clothes are clean today. The 14 woman has finally learned how to wash clothes!"

 To this, her husband answered quietly, "15 . Today I just woke up a little bit earlier and washed the window."
