My feelings about science have {#blank#}1{#/blank#} (complete) changed. The science teachers {#blank#}2{#/blank#} my new school are excellent and {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (friend). The science{#blank#}4{#/blank#} (facility) are very good with laboratories that have all the {#blank#}5{#/blank#} (late) equipment. Our chemistry teacher takes us to public science lectures about four times {#blank#}6{#/blank#} term, which are always interesting, because the lecturers are famous at {#blank#}7{#/blank#} (them) area of science. In the last 20 years, seven Canadian scientists {#blank#}8{#/blank#} (win) the Nobel Prize. Now {#blank#}9{#/blank#} I'm becoming more and more interested in is physics and I want to study it at university. But my parents are {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (astonish), as they always thought I would become an English teacher.

    Once there lived a rich man, {#blank#}1{#/blank#} wanted to do something for the people of his town. But first he wanted to find out {#blank#}2{#/blank#}they deserved his help.

    In the center of the main road into the town, he placed {#blank#}3{#/blank#} very large stone. Then he {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (hide) behind a tree and waited. Soon an old man came along with his cow.

    “Who put this stone in the center of the road？” said the old man，but he did not try to remove the stone. Instead, with some difficulty he passed around the stone and continued on his way. {#blank#}5{#/blank#} man came along and did the same thing; then another came, and another. All of them complained about the stone but not tried to remove {#blank#}6{#/blank#}. Late in the afternoon a young man came along. He saw the stone，{#blank#}7{#/blank#} (say) to himself: “The night will be very dark. Some {#blank#}8{#/blank#} (neighbor) will come along later in the dark and will fall against the stone.”

    Then he began to move the stone. He pushed and pulled with all his {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (strong) to move it，only to find a bag of money under the stone. Imagine {#blank#}10{#/blank#} surprised he was!

A Bite of China

    No trip would be complete without experiencing the local food culture. Actually, China has various kinds of delicious food,{#blank#}1{#/blank#} (include) a wide variety of local snacks (小吃).

    Without a doubt, for the majority of the foreigners I contacted, and myself included, Peking Duck, Dim Sum, Mongolian Hot Pot were the favorite Chinese {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (dish). China is a place{#blank#}3{#/blank#} the food is not only delicious, but the {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (cheap) I've ever found.

{#blank#}5{#/blank#}my last night in Beijing before returning to the States, I went to a Peking Duck restaurant that had been suggested for me to try. What a beautiful place! Splendid woodblock prints on the walls, fresh flowers in the vases on the table,{#blank#}6{#/blank#} (attract) silverware (镀银餐具) and beautiful chopsticks. I was handed {#blank#}7{#/blank#} menu and found most of the prices{#blank#}8{#/blank#}(be) especially low for the high quality of the food. The duck came in whole or half, along with all the little decorations that you know if you've ever eaten Peking duck—a little tortilla (玉米饼) to put the sliced duck and vegetables in chopped onion, sauce.

    Anyway, I ended up ordering a whole duck and thought I'd just take the rest back to my hotel{#blank#}9{#/blank#}(eat) later if I couldn't finish it. Unbelievably, in the end there was none of the whole duck{#blank#}10{#/blank#}(leave) on the plate. Umm, yummy!

    Since a university education in the United States {#blank#}1{#/blank#}(be)very expensive, most students work in addition to studying. Students {#blank#}2{#/blank#}(usual)work part-time, but some students take full-time jobs.

    A typical job for a students would be working {#blank#}3{#/blank#}a waiter or waitress. Other typical off-campus jobs would include being a clerk in a store or delivering pizza. Sometimes students also find jobs on campus such as cleaning, working in a cafeteria or library or answering {#blank#}4{#/blank#}(telephone). Most student jobs are entry-level and low paying, but have flexible schedule{#blank#}5{#/blank#}(allow) students to attend classes.

    Sometimes students also hold more responsible positions such as managers, or if they are lucky, positions in their area of study,{#blank#}6{#/blank#}they hope will help them find employment after they graduate.

    {#blank#}7{#/blank#}double responsibilities of working and studying result in a very busy,{#blank#}8{#/blank#} (stress)life for some students.{#blank#}9{#/blank#}, it is the only way for many people to finance their college educations. Some Americans believe that the work experience is good for the students {#blank#}10{#/blank#}(they)since it gives them a taste of “the real world” outside the school.

    The world's fifth reported brown-and-white giant panda has been found in Foping Nature Reserve.{#blank#}1{#/blank#}(spot)on Nov.1,the baby panda, less than two months old, was estimated to {#blank#}2{#/blank#}(appropriate)weigh 2 kilograms and believed to be the fifth giant panda of this rarely seen color ever found.{#blank#}3{#/blank#}(it)eyes haven't opened yet, but it can sense the people {#blank#}4{#/blank#} come near it to take a picture.

    Many {#blank#}5{#/blank#}(research)believe the brown-and-white pandas are a return to the form typical {#blank#}6{#/blank#} their ancestors. But some argue that those pandas are a variation(变异)of their usual group while a few others think that they are {#blank#}7{#/blank#} new subspecies of pandas {#blank#}8{#/blank#}(result)from the environmental changes of the mountains.

    The first three recorded brown-and-white pandas {#blank#}9{#/blank#}(find)in Foping Nature Reserve, in 1985,1990 and 1991 with the fourth found in 1992 in Shaanxi. China has more than 2,000 giant pandas. The giant panda {#blank#}10{#/blank#}(feed)mainly on green bamboo.

    While I was waiting for the bus I saw a homeless person carrying a sign {#blank#}1{#/blank#} said he would like a cup of coffee.

    As soon as I read it, I knew this task was meant for me. I joyfully ran across the street, {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (think) that getting him a cup of coffee would be great. I {#blank#}3{#/blank#}(buy) the coffee and approached him slowly. The closer I got, the more joy in his eyes I could see.

    When I handed him the hot coffee, I {#blank#}4{#/blank#}(simple) said "This is for you." I could see so much joy in his face and even a tear. He kept thanking me, holding his coffee like the {#blank#}5{#/blank#}(big) treasure in his life. It made me cry to see that a simple act of {#blank#}6{#/blank#}(kind) could bring so much joy to others.

    I walked back to my bus stop, and when the bus driver opened the door and I wanted {#blank#}7{#/blank#} (pay) the bus fare, he waved me and said it had touched his heart to see me giving away that cup of coffee and{#blank#}8{#/blank#} the fare was on him. This {#blank#}9{#/blank#}(amaze)moment warmed my heart and it gave my day and my life {#blank#}10{#/blank#} new start. It brings me such joy to love and share.
