阅读下列材料,从每题所给的A、B、C、D四个选项中选出最佳选项

Shyness can be an unhappy feeling. But the good news is, you're not alone. Scientists say that more than 40 percent of teenagers and adults consider themselves shy. Shyness is feeling a little nervous or as if you want to hide when you're around other people or in a new situation.

______ Scientists say such things as genetics(遗传基因), life experiences, and environment can influence whether a person is shy. For example, in some families, everybody seems to be shy.

What happens if you are shy? Well, being shy may cause you to avoid or miss opportunities you would enjoy.

How do people overcome (克服)shyness? This is what Gilbert tells us. "When I started off trying to get over being shy, I decided to do little steps at a time, including practicing smiling and saying hi to people. And it worked for me. "

But shyness is not the kind of thing that most people can get over overnight. Overcoming shyness take time and needs practice.

Here are some tips given by scientists.

Think of what to talk about before you leave home. Prepare things to talk about before you're in a social situation. For example, if you know your classmates are interested in an upcoming event, learn about it so you can join in the conversations.

Let people know you're shy. If you're shy, just show it. Instead of letting people guess, tell them the truth. Explain that you are shy and feel nervous but enjoy talking to people.

Make things easy for the other person. Remember, you're not the only shy person around. Do what you think might help others feel good-for example, say hello or smile.

Pick one social skill to practice at a time. Start simply. For example, smile or be the first person to say hi. Choose skills you feel comfortable enough with to practice for a day, a week, a month, or even a year.

Every school day, we use schoolbags to carry all of our things to school. They are a big part of our lives. But have you ever thought about the history of the schoolbag?'.

In the Han Dynasty(汉朝), students in old - style private schools used bamboo boxes to carry books to school. People consider the bamboo boxes to be the earliest schoolbags. There were usually two or three layers(层)in the box. Kids put different things like books, brushes, ink stones(砚)and paper in the boxes.

Hundreds of years later, people developed a new kind of schoolbag called the budai, or the " hip - pocket ". The budai was lighter than the bamboo box. With the founding (成立) of the People's Republic of China, military rucksacks(军用背包 )became popular. Many people carried them when they were in school. Ask your grandparents or parents about these bags. Maybe they can tell you about their experiences of carrying them when they were in school.

A new style of schoolbags has appeared in recent years. Many of them have colorful and fashionable designs(时尚的设计) on them, such as pictures of cartoons or pop stars. And they are more comfortable to use. Some students pull wheeled bags filled with heavy textbooks and others carry backpacks.

Schoolbags are still changing. Can you imagine what future schoolbags will be like?

Qi Haoran, a Junior One student at High School Attached to Harbin Institute of Technology, was quite busy last winter vacation - and not just with his homework.Qi, together with 10 other classmates, made a volunteer group to call on people to join the Clear Your Plate Campaign.

The 11 students went to many restaurants and told people the importance of saving food. " Excuse me, do you know that 950 million people around the world still haven't got enough to cat? Please don't waste food." They would repeat such words hundreds of times every day.

China in recent years has experienced serious problems with wasting food.CCTV has reported    that the food Chinese people waste every year is enough to feed 200 million people for a year.Chinese people are well known for being hospitable (好客的) and generous.Many even feel that they lose face if their guests have eaten all the food, because it seems that they haven't prepared enough food for their guests.

Luckily, the campaign has got the support of many.In a restaurant in Xinjiang, the owner gives a sticker to the customers who have eaten all that they ordered.People can enjoy a free meal when they have 10 stickers. Besides, more than 750 restaurants in Beijing have begun to offer smaller dishes and encourage their customers to take leftovers home.

To reduce food waste is a big task, and it needs time. It's important that everyone should do their bit just like Qi. So did you finish your meals today?
