Ann worked for a big company. One of the duties of her 1 was to go to the post office every day and 2  the company mail. One day in December, she 3  a beggar making himself up as a Santa Claus 4  on the corner of the street. Each day she 5 her coins and dropped them in his bowl. He would smile and 6  her a Merry Christmas.

      At night the temperature dropped below 0℃, but the Santa Claus 7 stood in the cold wind.  8  she dropped her coins into his bowl, she handed him a pair of gloves.

      That evening, she told her husband about her colleague's 16 , “I know we don't have much money to 17  , but I'd like to give her fifty or a hundred dollars. We'll just get ourselves less this year. Last year we couldn't afford to buy anything for 18  but we still had a wonderful Christmas.” Her husband smiled, “Give her one hundred dollars. She needs it more than we do.”

      She reached up and held him. Warmth spread 19  her body. He held her and realized that there really was a Santa Claus—and he had 20  her !

    My friend Dom recently set himself a 21-day kindness challenge. Dom took up this challenge because he had been 1 some difficult times after a relationship breakup. Instead of feeling2 for himself, he turned a negative into a positive.

    He started Mother's Day by 3 his mother at her work with his brothers. He had won some money before, so on Day Two he donated some of his 4 to a local disability organization. Later that day, the local district was 5 by strong winds so he 6 his elderly neighbour's gutters (排水沟) on Day Three.

    On Day Four he 7 some elders in the retirement village, chatting with them. Trading in his car 8 for a bicycle helmet (头盔)for the next two days was Dom's way of being 9 to the environment. On Day Seven and Eight he picked up rubbish that was10 the river shore and he drove to the blood bank to make his blood 11 And then on Day Nine he bought a lottery ticket (彩票) and put it in an envelope with Act Of Kindness 12 on it before sending it. On Day Ten my daughter and I found ourselves 13 in a supermarket car park with a flat battery. I called Dom, who came to our 14 with a smile and 15started the car so we could get home.

    And so Dom's kindness continued for 16 eleven days. He 17 people to check his Facebook wall each day to see what he had achieved with the18 that others would feel inspired. His posts attracted more and more likes19the days went on. I have loved every minute of this, he posted on the last day. I encourage you all to 20 your comfort zone to continue the challenge.

The Best Nutrition of Life

    A little boy always thought himself unfortunate because of his disability. He 1 played with his classmates. When the teacher asked him to answer questions, he always 2 his head without a word.

    One spring, the boy's father asked his children 3 to plant a young tree. “Whose tree grows best, I will buy him or her a favorite gift.” The boy wanted to have a try. But seeing his brothers and sisters watering the trees 4, anyhow, he 5 an idea: he hoped his tree would 6 soon. After watering it once, he never 7 it.

    A few days later, when he 8 his tree again, he was 9 to find it grew some fresh leaves 10 that compared with other trees, his appeared 11. His father bought him his favorite 12 and said that from the tree he planted, he would become an outstanding botanist（植物学家）.

    From then on, the little boy slowly became 13. One night, enjoying the bright moon-light, he went to see the tree.     My nephew's 10-year-old son came for a visit one hot, July weekend. I persuaded him to 1 inside and joined him in a game. After 2 for an hour, I suggested that we relax for a while. I 3 my favorite chair to let my neck relax. He left the room and I was catching a few enjoyable 4 of peace.

    And the voice was 19. We usually want to use our own efforts to 20 what we want to do. We must learn how to make use of "the wind" in the first place!

    In 1957, Jane Goodall first met the famous anthropologist (人类学者) Dr Louis Leakey, who later played an important role in her life.
