Mike wants to fly like a bird. His father tells him, "You can't fly like a bird because you are too big." "Why can't I? Some birds are big, but they can fly!" The boy doesn't understand. Bill is crippled. He wants to walk and run like other kids. "Why can't I walk or run like other kids?" Bill thinks.

      One day, the two boys meet in a park. "Do you want to fly like a bird?" Mike asks Bill. "No," Bill says. "I only want to walk and run like you."

      Then Mike walks to Bill's father. He says something to him. "That's OK," says the father. Mike goes to Bill and says, "Get on to my back．Let's run." Then Mike runs with Bill on his back. Bill is very happy and says, "We can fly, Mike! We can fly!"

    On a rainy day, about 150 volunteers worked for eight hours to clean up Carson Creek that is near a river. About nine tons of trash was taken out from there.

    “We did a good job,” said Alan Specter, the organizer of the event. “We're planning to come back here one more time, three years from now. Of course, we hope that there won't be so much trash next time.”

    The trash came in all shapes, sizes, and colors: cans, bottles, bicycles, batteries, furniture, clothing, plastic bags, dolls, and even a golf bag with a full set of golf clubs (球棒).

    The dirty and tiring work was done by two volunteering groups — Save the Bay and Watch the Whales. Most of the volunteers came from a local police station and a fire station. And some of them were old people who had already retired (退休).

    That day, it rained a little. All of them wore boots, gloves and raincoats. They did the work along a two-mile river with over 500 big yellow trash bags everywhere.

    No one found anything that cost much. A five-year-old boy found an earring which he thought might be worth a million dollars. He said he'd sell it. Then he'd donate half of the money to Watch the Whales, and use the other half to buy his favorite ice cream every day.

    Many people laughed at the boy's story. However, it was easily found that the environment there did become better.

    Money makes the world go round. But money isn't anything when people don't know how to use it. And no one is better at using money than American investor(投资者)Warren Buffet. He is one of the richest men in the world.

    Buffet was born in Nebraska in the US in 1930. As a child, he loved making and saving money. He used to go door-to-door selling his own products(产品).

    After university, Buffet went on buying and selling shares(股票). Shares are small part of a company. He is good at predicting changes in companies. By 1962, he became a rich man. In 1990, he went one step further and became a billionaire(亿万富翁).

    In 2008, Warren Buffet became the richest man in the world. He has promised to give 99% of his wealth to charity(慈善) after he dies.

    Second-grader Christian Bucks noticed that some of his friends seemed lonely on the playground during the break. Then he remembered something he learned that helps children make new friends at school. He decided to make it happen.

    Bucks started a buddy bench(朋友长椅)，a place where students can sit if they feel lonely, and other students will come up to them and ask if they want to play or just sit and talk. Bucks said it acts as a way to "grow our dream circle of friends"

    Bucks first heard about the buddy bench at a German school, and loved the idea very much. "He thought this was a great way to help other kids who might feel lonely," said his mom, Alyson.

    Last year, just before school ended for the summer holiday at Buck's school in Pennsylvania, USA, Bucks told his principal(校长) Matthew Miller about the buddy bench. He explained why he thought he school should have one. Miller and Bucks' teachers loved the idea and even let Bucks pick out the color and style of the bench!

    The buddy bench was put near the playground. Bucks hopes that students will use it and that it will help teach students to be kind to each other.

    "We show we care about others when we ask others to play," he said. "I also hope that new friendships will be made because of the buddy bench."

    The class teachers thought that hobbies were important to children. So she encouraged all her students to have one, and sometimes she arranged hobby shows for their parents to see.

    One morning, the teacher told the class to have a holiday and get their hobby things to school before 5 pm. A hobby show would be held the following afternoon.

    So in the afternoon, the students with nothing to show did their lessons at school as usual, while the lucky ones had a holiday to go home for their hobby works.

    When the afternoon lessons began, the teacher was surprised to see that Tommy was not there. "I don't believe Tommy has a hobby, "she thought. However, at a quarter to five, Tommy arrived with a beautiful collection of butterflies（蝴蝶）in glass cases. The teacher liked the samples（标本）very much and put them on a desk in the classroom. But, to her surprise, Tommy picked them up again and began to leave.

    "What are you doing, Tommy?" she asked. "Those things must stay here until tomorrow afternoon. That's when the parents are coming to see them. "

    "I know that, "answered Tommy, "and I will bring them back tomorrow, but my big brother doesn't want them to be out of our house at night. ""

    But, aren't the butterflies yours?" asked the teacher.

    "No, "answered Tommy." They are my brother's."

    "But Tommy, you should show your own hobby here, not somebody else's!"

    "I know that, "answered Tommy. What surprises her most was the answer. "My hobby is watching my brother collecting butterflies."

    On the first day of the New Year 2019，I made up my mind to go to Thailand to teach English as a volunteer. At the beginning, all I cared about was travelling and seeing the world. I didn't know how fantastic my life would be in the coming months!

    My journey began with attending TESOL certification(认证) course in my home state of Florida last February. After 3 weekends of study and another 40 hours' study online, I received my TESOL certificate.

    I was asked to contact Philip, who is Program Director of the Teach in Thailand. After discussing with Philip, I chose my school and after many months of excitement，I finally flew to Thailand in early April and I couldn't wait to explore the country!

    After a few weeks of single travel, I met up with Philip and the other new teachers in my program in Bangkok. It was great to meet other people who were on the same journey as me, see some cool sights and walk in Thailand's cities! After that, I attended the week­long seminar(研讨会). At the end of the seminar, I was transported to my school—Anuban Buriram Primary School.

    I truly love my job—I teach Grades 5 and 6 and I have the cleverest and most active kids in the world. It's a truly fantastic thing that you can see the difference you make in someone else's life, right in front of you!

    Buriram is a small city with green rice fields. People here are more friendly than anyone I've ever met—I've never been anywhere where a smile is so easily received，where everyone you pass is so friendly to say "Hello" and "Good morning". I've been taken out to countless dinners, and been lent a guitar, a camera, and I am given Thai treats and the most delicious fresh fruits many times a week. I only hope to repay them in the future.
