One day, I was comfortably waiting for my flight with a good book to read when {#blank#}1{#/blank#} elderly lady was wheeled to our waiting area. I noticed the trouble she was having {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (try) to open a packet of nuts with her shaking hands. No one else was willing to meet her gaze (目光), so I {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (offer) to help. The lady was very grateful. We sat and chatted. The time came to board the plane. She could walk but needed some {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (assist), so I volunteered to help her and carry her bag.

As I helped her get {#blank#}5{#/blank#} (settle), I noticed her “seat mate”, a businessman, looked a bit horrified at having to make the flight with her. He offered to change {#blank#}6{#/blank#} (seat) with me — and I agreed. We had a long chat. As we were entering another country we needed to fill out forms. I offered to fill {#blank#}7{#/blank#} (her) out because of her shaking hands. We landed and I needed to change planes, but I helped her first. The wheelchair she ordered was nowhere to be seen so we slowly walked to the gate {#blank#}8{#/blank#} her daughter was waiting.

As a result, I had to run to catch my connection but, as I thought about the experience, I saw her {#blank#}9{#/blank#} my airport angel, a chance for me to hope that in the future when I'm in my eighties and traveling, someone will take the time {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (connect) with me.

In Hebei Province lies a vast forest called Saihanba. This green Great Wall, {#blank#}1{#/blank#} at its peak during the Qing Dynasty covered thousands of hectares, had by the 1950s {#blank#}2{#/blank#}(virtual)disappeared. This allowed sand to blow into Beijing from the northern deserts.

Saihanba is a combination of Chinese and Mongolian, {#blank#}3{#/blank#}(mean)“beautiful highlands". Until the Qing Dynasty, it was a royal hunting land because of its cool summer weather and beautiful surroundings. However, most of the area had turned into a desert by the end of the Qing Dynasty.

In fact 56 years ago there was only one tree left. But without that tree, there {#blank#}4{#/blank#}(be)no miracle of Saihanba today. In the early 1960s, over 350 foresters {#blank#}5{#/blank#}(send)to this area to fight the desert. They were required {#blank#}6{#/blank#}(rebuild)the forest in Saihanba. Few people, including the foresters themselves, believed they would succeed.

Their doubt disappeared, however, when they found the 200-year-old tree, swaying alone in {#blank#}7{#/blank#} wind. If one tree could survive here, {#blank#}8{#/blank#} could millions of trees, they thought.

After decades of hard work, three generations of the foresters have restored almost 80% of the original Saihanba forest. Recently, they were awarded the {#blank#}9{#/blank#}(high)environmental honor from the United Nations for their great {#blank#}10{#/blank#}(contribute)to creating a greener world.

When someone has deeply hurt you, it can be very difficult to let go of your anger. But forgiveness is possible and it can be surprisingly {#blank#}1{#/blank#} (benefit) to your physical and mental health. So far, research {#blank#}2{#/blank#}(show) that people who forgive can have more energy, better appetite and better sleep. "People who forgive show {#blank#}3{#/blank#}(little) anger and more hopefulness," says Dr. Fre deric Luskin, who wrote the book Forgive for Good. So it can help reduce the tiredness out of the immune system and allow people {#blank#}4{#/blank#}(feel) more energetic."

So when someone has hurt you, cool down first. Take a couple of breaths and think of something {#blank#}5{#/blank#}gives you pleasure: a beautiful scene in nature, or someone you love. Don't wait for an {#blank#}6{#/blank#} (apologize). "Many times the person who hurt you may never think of apologizing," says Dr. Luskin. "They may have wanted to hurt you or they just don't see things in {#blank#}7{#/blank#}same way. So if you wait for people to say sorry, you could be waiting a very long time."

Next keep in mind that forgiveness does not necessarily mean {#blank#}8{#/blank#}(accept) the action of the person who upsets you. Instead, learn to look for the love, beauty and kindness around you. Finally, try to see things from the other person's perspective. You may realize that he {#blank#}9{#/blank#}she was acting out of ignorance. To gain perspective, you may want to write a letter to {#blank#}10{#/blank#}(you) from that person's point of view.

When an important holiday comes, I usually think of what gifts to buy or prepare for my family members. It is the act itself rather than the thing you buy that {#blank#}1{#/blank#}(matter). Either a small present, a text message or a phone call can mean a lot to the receivers. {#blank#}2{#/blank#}, I had never got anything from my son, who is a university student. Parents never forget to celebrate their children's birthday, but their children seem to be very {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (forget). They seldom do something in return.

Life is unpredictable, and you never know what will happen tomorrow. When my son came back during the summer vacation, my wife and I, as usual, {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (meet) him at the station. On arriving home, much {#blank#}5{#/blank#} my surprise, my son took out a wrist watch and gave it to me, {#blank#}6{#/blank#} (say) it was a birthday gift for me. It is a very fashionable watch, {#blank#}7{#/blank#} shows not only hours, minutes and seconds but days as well. You can imagine how surprised and excited I was at that moment.

Some people say children get too much care and love from their parents and just take them for granted. It is natural for people to have such concerns and {#blank#}8{#/blank#}(worry), but things may not turn out as badly as{#blank#}9{#/blank#} (expect). We need to look more at the positive side of life, as a famous writer once said, "Life is {#blank#}10{#/blank#}best classroom one can never get."
