⑴It's on the fourth Thursday of November. And it is also a time for tradition and sharing. Even if they live far away, family members gather for a reunion at the house of an older relative. All give thanks together for the good things that they have. {#blank#}1{#/blank#} 

⑵It is on the first Sunday after the full moon which falls on or after March 21^st. It is said that on that day Jesus Christ comes back to life. But now for most people, it is a spring holiday, while for children, it means, more than anything else, Easter eggs or chocolate eggs!

⑶It's also called Double Fifth Festival, is celebrated on the fifth day of the fifth moon of the lunar  calendar. It is one of the most important Chinese festivals with a history of more than 2,000years. It was originally designed in memory of ancient poet called Qu Yuan.{#blank#}3{#/blank#}

⑷It is a very important Chinese festival. There will be a big family dinner. People who work far away from home will try to come back. At night, people can enjoy the moon while eating moon cakes. They are the special food for this festival.{#blank#}4{#/blank#}

⑸It falls on the ninth day of the ninth month of the lunar calendar in China. The aim is to promote respect for the elderly. According to centuries-old customs, people climb mountains to admire the view.{#blank#}5{#/blank#}

    Once upon a time, there was an old woman who lived in a small house. She planted a lot of beautiful tulips (郁金香) in her garden.

    One night, the sounds of sweet singing and of babies laughing woke her up. She looked out of the window. The sounds seemed to come from the tulips, but she could see nothing.

    The next morning she walked among her flowers, but there were no signs of anyone having been there the night before.

    On the following night she was again wakened (弄醒) by the sounds of sweet singing and babies laughing. She got out of bed and walked softly into her garden. The old woman looked closely and she noticed that a fairy (精灵) mother was singing softly, and that in each tulip-cup was a little fairy baby, laughing and playing.

    The old woman went back to her house quietly. From then on, she never picked a tulip. She didn't allow her neighbours to pick the flowers, either. When the old woman died, all the tulips disappeared overnight. But her grave (坟墓) looked beautiful, because the fairies sang above it and kept it green.

    Now you've finished three years of English study. There's one way to demonstrate(展示)

    what you've learned－take a test!

    Do you have any special methods you use to help you do better on a test? How well you do is often a matter of how well prepared you are. Here are some ways to make sure you're at your best on test days.

    Go to bed early. The night before a test is not the time to stay up watching TV. You want to be rested and wide-awake for test day.

    Have a good breakfast. Test day isn't a morning for donuts(面包圈). Nor is it a time to starve(挨饿) yourself. Eat plenty of low-sugar, high-energy food to keep your brain and body working their best.

    Be prepared. Make sure you have two pencils and anything else you were asked to bring.

    Watch the numbers. Make sure that the number of the items(项目) on your answer sheet matches the number of the question.

    Look over all the answer choices. Don't assume(假定) that choice A is correct until you've checked the others. You may find a better one. And it is wrong to eliminate(排除) any choice that you can see at once. You'll have a better chance of finding the right answer.

    Check the clock. Make sure you allow yourself enough time to answer every question and go back and check your answers. Don't spend too much time on any difficult question. Skip（跳

    读） it and come back to it later.

    Keep up with your schoolwork all year long. That's  how you get the skills you need for taking a test.

Suggestions

A. Let your parents know you will not be alone. Also, you can ask a teacher to talk to your parents about the after-school activities.

B. Don't worry.  Even great piano players have to practice. Hard work and a lot of practice are the only ways to become a good piano player.

C. When you feel angry you should stop talking and count to ten or walk away until you keep quiet.

D. Don't worry. Everybody worries about their school work, even those students like you who study well. Find a hobby or a sport to help you relax for a while.

E. Tell your parents that many kids play computer games and do well at school, too. Ask them to let you play computer games for a short time on weekends.

Problems

⑴Sometimes I get angry easily and shout at my friends. That makes them think I'm not being friendly to them. {#blank#}1{#/blank#}

⑵In my teachers' eyes, I am a good student. Both my classmates and my parents also think so. No one knows what my problem is. I often feel worried about my school work. {#blank#}2{#/blank#}

⑶My parents never allow me to play computer games at all. They want me to study all day and do well in my exams. I feel unhappy. {#blank#}3{#/blank#}

⑷I want to join in some after-school activities, but my parents think it's too dangerous and don't allow me to go out along. {#blank#}4{#/blank#}

⑸My mother gets me to take piano lessons. She makes it a rule that I must practice two hours a day. I really try my best, but I just can't play well. {#blank#}5{#/blank#}

Abingdon School Open Day

    The Open Day this year will be on Saturday, 1 October 2011. The Open Day is for all the family, with activities and displays(展示) about all aspects(方面) of the school. All the teachers, students and parents will attend. The day starts at 9:30 a. m. and finishes at 2:30 p.m.  You are welcome to arrive at any time during the lessons in the morning and afternoon. Please read the outline of Open Day events.

    If you can't come to the Open Day, that's all right. There are many other chances(机会) to visit Abingdon School

    St Helen School and St Katharine School Open Day will be on the same date, so you can also visit those two.

    Parking at the school on the Open Day may be limited(有限的), so you can also park your cars in Lotus Supermarket's car park.  It's just a three-minute walk away.
