Most American businesses are open five days a week. American school children attend school five days a week as well. American families {#blank#}1{#/blank#} (usual) have a two-day weekend. The weekend is Saturday {#blank#}2{#/blank#} Sunday.

    Over the weekend, people spend their time {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (do) various things. Many families enjoy weekend together. They may go shopping, go for a drive, or visit friends. They may also send {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (invite) friends and have a party at home. Weekends are also good chances to take trips, {#blank#}5{#/blank#} are usually short ones. They will go to the nearby mountains, parks, lakes or other {#blank#}6{#/blank#} (interest）places to relax them. Some even go camping and picnicking there.

    Many families participate {#blank#}7{#/blank#} sports during the weekend. Running, biking, playing volleyball and swimming are popular in the summer. Skiing and skating are the favorite winter {#blank#}8{#/blank#} (sport).

    Weekends are also a time for American families {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (work) on something in their yards or on their houses. Many families plant flowers and have vegetable gardens. So weekends {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (use) to paint or repair their houses. For most Americans, weekends are very busy.

    On a clear February morning, a California black bear was set free. Looking around, he {#blank#}1{#/blank#}(skillful) climbed the nearest tree. From high above the ground, he could see the hundreds of acres{#blank#}2{#/blank#}were now his home. His eyes were filled with {#blank#}3{#/blank#}(curious)

The bear had come a long way. Last fall, the seven-month-old bear bub(幼兽) was found all alone. He had no mother to care for him. He was thin,{#blank#}4{#/blank#} (weight) only 20 pounds—-about half the normal weight for a bear that age. Luckily the bub{#blank#}5{#/blank#}(bring) to The Fund for Animals Wildlife Center in Ramona, California. At the center, the bub shared{#blank#}6{#/blank#} outdoor enclosure(围栏) with another bear. There were trees to climb and places for them to dig dens(兽穴).{#blank#}7{#/blank#} (teach) the cub to find his own food, people working at the center {#blank#}8{#/blank#}(hide) fruit in tree branches. Soon, the bear was an expert at climbing trees and "picking" the fruit. All the staff felt{#blank#}9{#/blank#}(amaze) at his adaptability.

Finally, the day had come. With his new skill and strong body, the bub was ready to be{#blank#}10{#/blank#}his own, and ready to live like a bear should— in the wild.

    Some poems tell a story or describe something in a way that will give the reader {#blank#}1{#/blank#} strong impression. Others try to express certain emotions. Poets use different forms of poetry to express {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (they). For example，the language of nursery rhymes is concrete but {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (imagine), and they delight small children because they have strong rhyme and a lot of {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (repeat). And list poems have a flexible line {#blank#}5{#/blank#} (long) and a rhythm to the poem. Another simple form of poem is the cinquain, {#blank#}6{#/blank#} is made up of five lines and can convey strong {#blank#}7{#/blank#} (feel) in just a few words. Haiku is a Japanese form of poetry that is made up of 17 syllables. And of course there are Tang poems from China which you may enjoy {#blank#}8{#/blank#} particular. With so many different {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (form) of poetry to choose from, students may {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (eventual) want to write poems of their own.

    Roofs and windows of buildings aren't the only surfaces that can be used to produce solar power. In China,{#blank#}1{#/blank#}（construct）has begun of the country's first solar highway, in which solar panels are placed underneath transparent concrete.

    The solar highway is a 2 km stretch（一段）of road{#blank#}2{#/blank#}（lie）on the Jinan City Expressway, and it's divided into three layers. The see-through concrete protects a set of solar panels of two{#blank#}3{#/blank#}（size）. Beneath the solar panels{#blank#}4{#/blank#}（be）a layer that separates them from the damp ground.

    The road{#blank#}5{#/blank#}（it）has already been completed, and now it's only a matter of connecting the grid（输电网）,{#blank#}6{#/blank#}is expected to be finished by the end of the year alongside the completion of the Jinan Expressway's south section.

    This isn't the first solar road China has worked on. Earlier this year, the Qilu Transportation Development Group, also handling the Jinan Expressway solar road,{#blank#}7{#/blank#}（build）a 160-meter- long solar road in{#blank#}8{#/blank#}city of Jinan. It has the ability of heating up to keep the highway clear{#blank#}9{#/blank#}snow and ice* and is able to{#blank#}10{#/blank#}（wireless） charge electric vehicles. The new solar highway is expected to one day be equipped with the same features.
