    Eyesight plays a very important role in our daily life. Every waking moment, the eyes are working to see the world around us. Over forty percent of Americans worry about losing eyesight, but it's easy to include steps into our daily life to ensure healthy eyes. Here are five suggestions for a lifetime of healthy eyesight:

    Schedule yearly exams. Experts advise parents to bring babies 6 to 12 months of age to the doctor for a careful check. The good news is that millions of children now can have yearly eye exams and following treatment, including eyeglasses.

    Protect against UV rays (紫外线). Long-term stay in the sun creates risk to your eyes. No matter what the season is, it's extremely important to wear sunglasses.

    Two-thirds of Americans spend up to seven hours a day using computers or other digital (数字的)products.   This frequent eye activity increases the risk for eye tiredness. Experts recommend (建议)that people practice the 20/20/20 rule: every 20 minutes, take a 20-second break and look at something 20 feet away.

     As part of a healthy diet, eat more fruits and vegetables each day. Vitamins C and E help protect eyesight and promote eye health.

    Practice safe wear and care of contact lenses (隐形眼镜). Many Americans use contact lenses to improve their eyesight. While some follow the medical guidance for wearing contact lenses, many are breaking the rules and putting their eyesight at risk.  Otherwise, you may have problems such as red eyes, pain in the eyes, or a more serious condition.

A. Have your eyes checked as early as possible.

B. Give your eyes a break.

C. Parents usually don't care about their own eyesight.

D. They can properly protect your eyes.

    College is the time when you're expected to focus on your path in life. But it's also the time you're the least equipped to have any long-term plan. {#blank#}1{#/blank#}.

The whole process can be divided into three stages.

    The first is "gathering fuel". This means building up your skills, learning from different experiences and developing a network of people who you trust and who trust you. And this is a stage that requires patience and a willingness to identify your own weaknesses and work on them. If you complete this stage with a growing sense of what you love to do and what you are good at, {#blank#}2{#/blank#}.

    The second stage is "burning fuel". This is the time to improve the skills you've obtained through experiences, the people you've met along the way and the recognition of what you should do. {#blank#}3{#/blank#}. We want to get where we're going in a hurry, but that hardly works.

    {#blank#}4{#/blank#}. Simply speaking, it's about staying strong, while turning an eye towards what lies ahead. It's a surprisingly long journey and most people underestimate it. You can't expect an ideal life to happen by itself. You must recognize that no matter where you are on the path, each step is there to teach you something, feeding you that fuel.

    If you're not doing what you want, you need more fuel — so go out and get it. {#blank#}5{#/blank#}.

A. you are winning

B. that will come true

C. The last part is "saving fuel"

D. The final part is "filling fuel"

E. Here are some tips on how to aim your sights into the future

F. It seems that most of us try to jump straight to the next stage

G. And if you're doing what you want, keep moving and don't settle

How to Survive Being Stuck in a Lift

    Being stuck in a lift, also known as an elevator, can sometimes be scary, especially if you are a fan of those kinds of movies which have a lot of elevator tragedies. You may think being stuck in an elevator in real life is not like in the movies.{#blank#}1{#/blank#}

    Remain calm and do not panic! You may have heard of this a lot of times and it is true that panicking will do you no good. {#blank#}2{#/blank#}

    Press each of the floor buttons one by one. Then, try the “doors open” button. If none of the buttons works, the lift is broken, and you need to let someone know about it.

    See if your phone has any reception or Internet. {#blank#}3{#/blank#} If you have WiFi connection, contact a family member or friend. Don't forget to tell them what the address is of the building and possibly which elevator you are stuck in. If your phone is not available, the following tips can help you.

    Look through the gap between the doors of the lift. If you can see light between the doors, the lift has stopped near a floor, and you should be able to shout for help and be released. Do not try to force the doors open yourself. If you can't see light between the doors, the lift has stopped between floors, and no one will be able to let you out if you scream for help. Look for an emergency telephone. If there is no telephone, press the alarm button repeatedly. {#blank#}4{#/blank#}

    {#blank#}5{#/blank#}If you have waited for more than half an hour and nobody has come to get you out, shout and bang the inside walls of the lift. If no one is responding to you, then you'll have to accept that you will be in the lift overnight. If this happens, make yourself as comfortable as possible to save your energy. By morning, the building should be full again. You can try to get some help then.

A. It will cause you not to be able to think clearly.

B. Check the time.

C. Eventually, someone should hear you and get help.

D. Here are some tips to help you survive.

E. However, it is still a vital thing to know how to survive if it ever happens to you.

F. Use your watch.

G. If you do have reception, call emergency services.
