Students go hungry for charity（慈善）
Students at New Point School enjoyed their breakfast today, for it broke a 24-hour fast（禁食） for charity. During the fast, they could not eat any food ,and they could only drink water, tea and clear fruit juice. The students all volunteered to go without food for one day to raise money for UN projects to help the poor .
Mr. James Wood, their English teacher, said, “The students the idea themselves after seeing photos of hungry children. They organized the whole thing. I'm very proud of them.”
“Twenty-four hours did not feel like a very long time. Next year, I might even double I spend fasting. Then I can raise twice as much money!” said Jane Austin, a student. “It's so wrong for us to have lots of food while many people in the world are going hungry. We need to give to those in need.”
The students collected about $2 400 from the fast. They were the total amount. “It's amazing! People are so kind, and they want to help others,” said Alan Long, another student.

I took the bus to school every day when I was in primary school. Alvin, our bus {#blank#}1{#/blank#}, picked us up every morning. We were all from {#blank#}2{#/blank#} families. My parents could hardly sup-port the family with {#blank#}3{#/blank#} children.
Once a month, Alvin stopped at the local bus stop. Then someone came out and {#blank#}4{#/blank#} each of us if we wanted an ice-cream or a drink. Alvin paid for it. At the end of the school year, he took us to {#blank#}5{#/blank#} home for dancing. The {#blank#}6{#/blank#} that he showed was amazing. Twenty years later, I called him and {#blank#}8{#/blank#} him for all he did for us .I told him that he probably couldn't remember me, but I sure {#blank#}9{#/blank#} him! And I could hear smile in his voice when he said he was happy that I called.
He is the reason why I do my {#blank#}10{#/blank#} to show kindness to everyone I meet. He has had a big influence on my life. And I am very pleased that I was able to tell him.
