Why do I want to go to college? No one has ever asked me such a question. But many times I have asked {#blank#}1{#/blank#}. I have come up with a whole variety of reasons. The most important reason is that I want to be a better man.

    Many things make {#blank#}2{#/blank#} different from or better than animals.

    One of the most important things is education. If I fail to receive higher education, my education will not finish. As I want to be a fully developed man, I must get a well-rounded education. Good colleges and universities are {#blank#}3{#/blank#} to provide it. I know one can get educated in many ways, but colleges and universities are among the best places to teach me how to educate myself. When I am well-educated, I will be able to {#blank#}4{#/blank#} fit into society.

    After a quick breakfast, I went into the lecture hall in a hurry．A famous teacher was{#blank#}1{#/blank#}to the students．He was holding up a $100 bill．Then he said to the three hundred students，"Who would like this $1 00 bill?" The students put up{#blank#}2{#/blank#}hands at once．Then he said，"I am going to give this $100 bill to one of you，but{#blank#}3{#/blank#}，let me do this．"He made the bill into a ball．Then he said. "Who{#blank#}4{#/blank#}it now?" The hands went back into the air．"Well," he said，"what if I do this?" and he{#blank#}5{#/blank#}it on the floor and stepped on it．He picked up the{#blank#}6{#/blank#}bill and said．"Who still wants it?" Hands went back again into the air．

    "My friends,"? he said，"you have learned a valuable(有价值的){#blank#}7{#/blank#}today．No matter what I did to the $100 bill! Many{#blank#}8{#/blank#}in our life，we are dropped and stepped on．We feel as if we are worth nothing．But remember, no matter what{#blank#}9{#/blank#}happened to you，you will never lose your value：You are{#blank#}10{#/blank#}valuable to those people who love you．Your value doesn't come from what you do or whom you know, but who you are．"

    “Early to bed, early to rise, makes a man healthy, wealthy(财富) and wise (智慧).”

    This is an old English saying (谚语)．Did you hear of it? It means that we must go to bed early and {#blank#}1{#/blank#} up early in the morning．Then we will keep {#blank#}2{#/blank#}．We'll also be rich and clever.

    This is true．The body must have {#blank#}3{#/blank#} sleep to be healthy．Children of young age should have ten {#blank#}4{#/blank#} sleep every day．Children who don't have enough sleep can't do their work very well．They won't be clever and they may not become rich!

    The body also needs {#blank#}5{#/blank#}．Walking, running, jumping, swimming and playing games are all exercise．Exercise the body strong(强壮).

    Exercise also helps the blood(血) to {#blank#}6{#/blank#} around inside the body．This is very important．Our blood {#blank#}7{#/blank#} food to all parts(部分) of our body．The head also needs blood． Exercise helps us to think{#blank#}8{#/blank#}.

    Last week I took a train home. My friend gave me her newspaper and {#blank#}1{#/blank#} (say) there was an article(文章) I would like. I opened the newspaper. I saw a picture of a little girl and her mother, and there were some words {#blank#}2{#/blank#} the picture. It {#blank#}3{#/blank#} "Mom, do caterpillars (毛虫) know they become butterflies (蝴蝶), or does God surprise them? "I was very {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (surprised) to see these words. They let me remember something about myself.

    Two years ago, doctors told me that {#blank#}5{#/blank#} was very difficult for me to be a mother. But I {#blank#}6{#/blank#} (real) wanted to be a mom. Would God surprise me and let me have a {#blank#}7{#/blank#} (child)? After two weeks, it was Christmas Day. My husband gave me a present. It was a butterfly ring. I liked it very much. A few {#blank#}8{#/blank#} (day) later, I learned I was pregnant (怀孕的). I had waited for four years. Finally, I had my own baby. Life is full of {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (hope). Maybe some surprises are {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (wait) for you in the future.
