    Last month our school held a Reading Week, which aim was to encourage the students to read wide. During the week, book lovers recommended a plenty of good books suitable for high school students. In addition, two famous writers are invited to give lectures on how to understand and appreciate literary work. The poetry reading contest was another amazed activity for the students to bring his talent into full play. All the contestants took turns read their favorite poems to the audience. We all find the Reading Week very benefit. It has not only enriched our school life, and helped us form the habit of reading.

    Last Saturday afternoon, a charity sale held on our school playground. Although it was no easy task, students active participated in it.

    To organize it successfully, we' made full preparations. After the sale, from the students we collected variously second-hand goods which were still in good condition and classify them. Then came the big day. With all the teachers and students involve, the activity turned out to be successful. We raised 5,000 yuan for total at the end of the activity. All the money we raised up will go to the students from poor family to help finish their studies. It's so a meaningful activity that students look forward to the next charity sale.

    We live in the countryside. Most of which we see is beauty and nature. One of the exceptions to the beauty is the litter some people throw out their windows as they are driving on the roads. One of the few drawbacks to living in the countryside is that public service, such as litter collection, are little available than they are closer to the city.

    A helping habit that my family practise regularly are picking up litter in our surrounding area. We have become so accustomed to do this that my little brother will often say, “There's some litter, Daddy, stop the car!” And we would often pull over and pick it up. It may seem strange, and we actually enjoy it. We pick up litter in parks, on sidewalks, practically anywhere. Once I even saw a complete stranger picking up litter close to where we live in. He smiled at me and said, “I saw you doing it, and it seemed like the good idea.”
