Aron Ralston is an American man who is interested in mountain climbing. As a mountain climber, Aron is used to taking risks. This is one of the exciting things about doing dangerous sports. There were many times when Aron almost lost his life because of accidents. On April 26, 2003, he found himself in a very dangerous situation when climbing in Utah.

    On that day, Aron's arm was caught under a 360-kilo rock when he was climbing by himself in the mountains. Because he could not free his arm, he stayed there for five days and hoped that someone would find him. But when his water ran out, he knew that he would have to do something to save his own life. He was not ready to die that day. So he used his knife to cut off half his right arm. Then, with his left arm, he bandaged himself so that he would not lose too much blood. After that, he climbed down the mountain to find help.

    After losing his arm, he wrote a book called Between a Rock and a Hard Place. This means being in a difficult situation that you cannot seem to get out of. In this book, Aron tells of the importance of making good decisions, and of being in control of one's life. His love for mountain climbing is so great that he kept on climbing mountains even after this experience.

    Do we have the same spirit as Aron? Let's think about it before we find ourselves "between a rock and a hard place" and before we have to make a decision that could mean lire or death.

    I'm Andy. I study at a school in Beijing. There are lots of rules(条例) in my school. We have to wear school uniforms every day, and we can't wear rings. We can't arrive late for school. We can't talk in class. After class, we can't run in the hallways. I can follow most of them, but I can't follow some.

    My cousin Mike is in a school in the USA. In his school, students can't bring alcohol(酒) to school Students can't smoke. Students can't colour their hair, and boys can't have long hair. It's easy for Mike to follow them.

    My e-friend Julie studies in a school in Canada. In her school, students can't eat in the classroom. They can't listen to music in class. Julie thinks she can obey these rules.

    We don't like some of the rules, but most of the rules can help us and we have to follow the rules.

    I get up and get dress for school. My school has a uniform-black trousers and shoes, a white shirt and a black and gold tie. The girls wear the same, or they can wear a black skirt.

    When a person is hurt or becomes sick, people will give him immediate (立即的 )care. We call it first aid(急救). When there is a sudden(突然的) situation, {#blank#}1{#/blank#}, so first aid plays a very important role. Immediate action is necessary when someone loses lots of blood.

    Can you imagine astronauts' everyday life in space? {#blank#}1{#/blank#}They do the same things as us, but they do them differently.

    {#blank#}2{#/blank#} Gravity(重力) holds the food down and keeps the water in the glass. But there is almost no gravity in space, so food can float(漂浮)away, and astronauts must eat and drink carefully.

    Sleeping is very different in space. {#blank#}3{#/blank#} They tie the bag to a wall so that they won't float away, and astronauts must eat and drink carefully.

    Exercise is very important in space. On earth, your legs carry your body, but in space, astronauts float. {#blank#}4{#/blank#} This is very bad for their legs, so they must exercise for thirty minutes every day.

    After a day's work, astronauts relax. They may listen to music, read, watch films, play games, or talk to their friends and families by radio.{#blank#}5{#/blank#}
