At the age of 15, most girls are just learning about fashion(时尚). But Madison Robinson is making (A)________(越来越多的) money because of the design(设计) for flip-flops(人字拖鞋) for kids. The shoes sell for about $25 a pair, and they have made at least $1.2 million.

    Madison, from Texas, the USA, (B) came up with the idea at the age of eight. With the help of her father Dan, she could turn her drawings into real shoes.

    Her business(生意) helped her a lot, such as public speaking(演说). And now Madison has a lot of money to pay for her college(大学).

    Greetings from Los Angeles! Thank you for your postcard. Yes, your mother and I can visit you at Christmas. We thought to stay at home on Christmas Day, but now we are going to stay with you. And Jack isn't going to school then.

    The weather in Los Angeles is cold, but it doesn't matter. Sometimes we like the snow.

    We are going to buy plane tickets tomorrow because your mother wants to take a plane and she thinks it is fast. We will get to your city on December 18th. Our plan is to stay with you for two weeks. Is that all right with you？

    In England, usually people don't talk very much. You can go on a bus, or on a train, and everyone sits looking out of the window. Often they read. They read books and newspapers, but they don't talk much. When you meet English people, they often talk about one thing—the weather. So when you meet someone in England, you can say, "Nice weather at the time of the year!"

    "But it's a little cold," someone may answer. "But it'll be warmer later!" you can say.

    The English will think, "How friendly you are!"

    Growing up in this fast world means we must make a lot of decisions in a short time. We must learn how to make right choices and decisions to make our lives better. There are some tips you can use when you make decisions.

    Rainforests are magical(神奇的)places on earth, full of life and beauty. They are homes, to millions of birds, insects, animals, and plants. These forests are the world's natural treasure(财富).

    Most rainforests are near the equator(赤道). Some of the largest are in Brazil, South Asia and Central Africa. There are several kinds. Each has different levels of rainfall and different types of soil and temperature.

    In equatorial rainforests, the temperature stays between 25 and 35 degrees during the year. These rainforests get a lot of rain-as much as 4, 000 millimeters per year. Monsoon rainforests are very different. They have long dry periods. Also, their temperature can change a lot from season to season.

    Rainforests are important for many reasons. One is their great diversity(多样性)of life. There are millions of species of insects, animals, and plants. Scientists still don't know about most of them yet. Many rainforest plants could help us make new medicines. Rainforests also keep the soil strong. And they may be important to the earth's climate.

    Unfortunately, rainforests are getting smaller every year. Farmers burn down trees for land. Large companies cut down trees for their valuable wood. Other companies build mines near forests.

    Environmental groups are trying hard to save the rainforests. Hopefully they can, before they're all gone.
