My friend John is a student. Last year, he went to Japan and stayed there  1two months. I was2 that John was able to 3such a long holiday in Japan because he was 4  . "How did you get so  5  money, John?" I asked. "I thought you could stay in Japan for 6  two weeks." "It was easy," he answered. "I got a job in Japan." "A job? What did you do?" "I gave English lessons  7  a shop owner, and we became good friends." "But you are8  teacher!" "Mr Tanaka, the shop owner, knew l was not a teacher, but he said he had a lot of American customers, so he wanted to learn English. I spent three hours a day 9  to him. In return, he gave me a room, three meals a day and some money."

    "Did he learn 10 English?'' "I don't know," John said, "but I learnt a lot of Japanese."

    Once upon a time, there was a beautiful girl who lived with her father in the forest. One day, a lion came to their house and told the father to let the girl 1 him. The father and the girl were very 2 of the lion. He knew that if his daughter did not get married to the lion, the lion would be very angry and kill them 3. So he had to find a way of 4  the lion.

    Roger was new in town, and he had no friends here. His birthday was coming. He wanted to have a big party, but he was1that other kids would not come to his party.

    One week2the birthday party, Roger and his3went to Benny's Pizza Store. It had the best pizza in the town. Roger wanted a large pizza. He4it very much.

    Several days ago, we had an exam. When the first day's exam 1; we checked the answers with each other. I found some of my answers were 2 from my classmates'. Since I didn't do 3in my subjects, I thought they were right and I was wrong.

    The math questions were 4 difficult that I couldn't finish them. There were at least 35 points lost. So5 the physics exam. I made many mistakes. Watching my classmates' happy 6; I was deadly sad. I leaned on the desk 7. I wanted to cry but it seemed that there were not any tears. I could do nothing but go on with 8 exams. I shouldn't give up. I decided to listen to some music so that I could be calm（冷静的） and confident in the other exams. Thank goodness! The music did work! I became9. And I did better than before. I got good marks in the others.

    From these exams, I learnt that we must have confidence（自信心） in whatever we do. Confidence is the first step to10. If we study hard, success is just right there waiting for us.

    Tom brought a box of biscuits to a summer camp. He ate a few and places the rest under his bed. After lunch, he found the box was gone. He went to tell his camp 1 about it.

    The next day, the coach saw a boy eating Tom's biscuits behind a tree. He 2  an idea to solve the problem. He found Tom and said to him," I know who 3  your biscuits. Will you help me to teach him a 4 ?"

   "Well, yes… are you going to punish him, sir?"  Tom asked." No, I am not," the coach explained 5." That would only make him hate you. I want you to write to your mother and ask for more 6."

    Tom receives another box of biscuits by mail from his mother a few days later." Now," said the coach," go and 7  them with the boy who stole your biscuits." Tom didn't understand the coach's intention(意图), 8  he still followed his advice.

    Half an hour later the coach saw the two boys come up the hill, arm in arm. The boy was trying to ask Tom to 9  his toy robot in payment for the stolen biscuits. And Tom was refusing the gift from his new friend. He said that a few biscuits were not so 10 .

    In some situations, forgiveness(原谅) is better than punishment.

    One day, all feelings are {#blank#}1{#/blank#} vacation on an island, and each was having a good time. Suddenly, there was a strong storm, so they all rushed to their boats. Yet, Love didn't wish {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (run) away quickly. But as the clouds darkened, Love realized it was time to leave. But there were no boats to use. Love looked around with hope.

    Just then Richness was passing by. Love asked "Richness, can you take me with you?" She answered, "No, I can't. There's a lot of gold in my boat. There's no place here for you."

    Sorrow passed by after a while. Again, Love asked for help. But it was useless. "No, I can't take you with me. I am so sad. I want to stay on {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (I) own.

    When {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (happy) passed by a few minutes later, Love again asked for help. But he was so happy that he couldn't care about {#blank#}5{#/blank#} (someone) else.

    Love was growing hopeless. Just then somebody shouted, "Come, Love. I will take you with me." Love didn't know who was so kind, {#blank#}6{#/blank#} jumped onto the boat happily.

    After Love {#blank#}7{#/blank#} (save), he met Knowledge. Love asked, "Knowledge, do you know the one {#blank#}8{#/blank#} was so {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (help) to give me a hand when no one else wished to help?"

    Knowledge smiled, "That was Time."

    "Time?" asked Love. "But why did time help me?" Knowledge smiled and answered, "Because only Time is able to understand {#blank#}10{#/blank#} valuable Love is."
