    When I was still young in my high school, my mother dragged me to play basketball to lose weight. However, it was turned out to be a bitter failure because I devoted my time on study. One day, a friend of mine contacted me and suggested that we started to swim. Without any hesitation, I agreed because we all thought that it was coolest thing in the world. I couldn't forget the day on that I was thrown into the cold water. Fortunately, I survived. Honest speaking, I had a hard time recovered from the shock. Then my friend teaches me to hold my breath underwater. Finally, I succeeded. Now realizing that taking exercises is beneficial to my health, I develop a strong taste for swimming, which becomes part of my life.

    Last summer vacation was my most pleasant one. My parents and I had made at our to Xi'an. Instead of having a travel agency arranging our transportation and accommodation, we booked the train tickets and hotel rooms on the Internet by us. During our tour in Xi'an, we went to many places of interests and took lots of photos, learned about the history of Xi'an. No tourists would miss the local food in Xi'an, so would we. We enjoyed the typical local food, it tasted more delicious than we had expected. Hardly had I returned than I shared the photos and experiences for my classmates. The trip to Xi'an has been such happy memory to me that I will never forget it.

    Stephen Hawking, a famous physicist, was born in Britain on January 8, 1942. As a child, he was enthusiastic about designing complicated toys. But unlucky, he, in his twenty, was studying in Oxford University while he was found seriously ill. Therefore,this didn't stop him living as meaningful and colorful life as others. He was so positive as to eventually defeated all the obstacles. He is also absorbed in his research into the universe. Publishing in 1988, his book A Brief History of Time became a best-seller, from where he put forward his famous theory on time. On March 14, 2018, Stephen Hawking, died in the age of 76 in Cambridge, UK.

    Last month, I took part in a volunteer activity in a village. We start off by bus at 9 o'clock. After a three-hour drive, we saw the village surrounded by hills. It was very difficulty to drive on the rocky road, so we got on the bus and walked there. The villagers standing by road welcomed us warm.

    Cooked with those vegetable grown by the villagers, the lunch was tasted delicious. After lunch, we played games with the village children. Then, we visited an old man live alone on the hillside. We sang a few songs, what made him really happy.

    Is it necessary to practise handwriting? Some students consider handwriting least important than before. They preferred the keyboard to the pen now, for the former is fast, convenient and clear. They think it is waste of time practising handwriting. However, others think Chinese handwriting is an important part of our traditional culture.

    Though computers are very convenient, but handwriting still plays an important role in the modern world. Beside, beautiful handwriting makes a good impression in others. It shows your attitude to do things. Chinese character are very beautiful and rich in culture. As for me, when reading a neatly writing article, you will feel pleased and relaxed.
