I'm on holiday here in Switzerland with my parents and I'm having {#blank#}1{#/blank#} Fantastic time. We're staying in a hotel near a lake and I can see snowy mountain  {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (peak) from my bedroom.

    I've never been to the mountains before and I love {#blank#}3{#/blank#}. It's also the first time I {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (stay) in a hotel. My father isn't very happy though. He {#blank#}5{#/blank#} (forbid) to smoke in the hotel so he has to go outside!

    We go mountain climbing with a guide. You don't have to go with a guide but it's {#blank#}6{#/blank#}．(safe).

    Yesterday we went {#blank#}7{#/blank#} a boat trip around the lake. It suddenly started to rain heavily. It was fun but a bit {#blank#}8{#/blank#} (frighten).

    The best thing of all is the beautiful scenery. The worst is{#blank#}9{#/blank#} I can't go out at night. Not because my parents won't let me but because there's nowhere {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (go).

    Lake Titicaca, a famous lake in South America, lies on the border between Bolivia and Peru. But the lives of the ancient people, who once lived around the lake and {#blank#}1{#/blank#} culture was thought to be highly developed, have long remained a secret. Recently, however, scientists {#blank#}2{#/blank#}(take) part in an exploration project at the lake have found {#blank#}3{#/blank#} 1000-year-old temple beneath the water.

    Divers from the study group have discovered a building that scientists think is the remains of a temple {#blank#}4{#/blank#}(build) by the people who once lived beside the lake. The project leaders hope to begin raising {#blank#}5{#/blank#}(value) materials from the site later this week {#blank#}6{#/blank#} bad weather forces a change in their plans.

    "The scientists have not yet had the chance to study the materials {#blank#}7{#/blank#}(careful)," said the project {#blank#}8{#/blank#}(found), John Aubi. "But some have put forward the idea that the remains date from this period because they are similar {#blank#}9{#/blank#} those found elsewhere."

    So far, they {#blank#}10{#/blank#}(make) more than 200 dives into water 30 metres deep. During these dives, they have been recording the ancient remains on film. There will be a meeting, starting later this year to review the film.

    She looks like any other schoolgirl, fresh-faced and full of life. Sarah Thomas is looking forward to challenge of her new A-level course. But unlike her school friends, 16-year-old Sarah is not spending half-term {#blank#}1{#/blank#} (rest). Instead, she is earning $6,500 a day as {#blank#}2{#/blank#} model in New York.

    Sarah {#blank#}3{#/blank#}(tell) that she could be Britain's new supermodel, earning a million dollars in the new year. Her father Peter, 44, wants her to give up school to model full-time. But Sarah, {#blank#}4{#/blank#}has taken part in shows along with top models, wants {#blank#}5{#/blank#}(prove) that. She has brains as well as beauty. She is determined to carry on with her {#blank#}6{#/blank#}(educate).

    She has turned down several {#blank#}7{#/blank#}(invitation) to star at shows in order to concentrate on her studies. After school she plans to take a year off to model full-time before going to university to get a degree {#blank#}8{#/blank#} engineering or architecture.

    Sarah says, “My dad thinks I should take the offer now. But at the moment, school {#blank#}9{#/blank#}(come) first. I don't want to get too absorbed in modeling. It is {#blank#}10{#/blank#}(certain) fun but the lifestyle is a little unreal. I don't want to have nothing else to fall back on when I can't model my more.”
