Little Free Library is a nonprofit organization that inspires a love for reading and builds community. It is also referred to {#blank#}1{#/blank#} neighborhood book exchanges around the world. This is a creative idea {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (think) up by Todd Bol and Rick Brooks in 2009, which seeks {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (put) small book exchange boxes right in front of a house or on a street corner to offer free books to {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (member) of the local community. Mini libraries of all shapes and sizes exist, from a {#blank#}5{#/blank#} (bright) painted wooden house to a library based on Doctor Who's TARDIS.

     {#blank#}6{#/blank#} makes the idea so special? Their website states: "Little Free Libraries have a unique, personal touch and there is an understanding that people are sharing their favorite books with their community. These are not just any old books {#blank#}7{#/blank#} a carefully organized collection. Besides, the library {#blank#}8{#/blank#} (it) is a piece of neighborhood art!"

    Through Little Free Libraries, millions of books {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (exchange) each year among readers of all ages and backgrounds. They also play an important role in remote areas by {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (provide) access to books and encouraging a love for reading.

    Two brothers decided to dig a deep hole behind their house. As they were working,a couple of older boys{#blank#}1{#/blank#} (stop) by to watch.

    “What are you doing?” asked one of the{#blank#}2{#/blank#} (visitor) curiously.

    “We plan{#blank#}3{#/blank#} (dig) a hole all the way through the earth!”one of the brothers said{#blank#}4{#/blank#} (excited).

    The older boys began to laugh,telling the {#blank#}5{#/blank#} (young) ones that it was impossible.

    After a long {#blank#}6{#/blank#} (silent), one of the diggers picked up {#blank#}7{#/blank#} box full of spiders and insects. He showed the wonderful things {#blank#}8{#/blank#}  the older boys.

    Then he said confidently, “Even if we don't dig all the way through the earth, look at what we found along the way!”

    {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (they) dream was far too big,but it did cause them to dig. And that is what a dream is for—to cause us to move in the direction we have chosen.

    Not every dream will be realized. But when you couldn't get what you wanted, perhaps you can say, “Yes,but look at the wonderful things {#blank#}10{#/blank#} have come into my life because I tried to do something! ”

    The UN is an international organization which is made up of countries that want to promote world peace. Now I'm a Goodwill Ambassador for {#blank#}1{#/blank#}(they). My job with the UN is voluntary and I visit countries {#blank#}2{#/blank#} the UN has programmes to help people. When I visit these countries, I'm followed by the television and press and my visits {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (record), which will help people know better about the work of the UN.

    Recently, I traveled to South Africa because of my work with the UN. There I met some {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (woman) who have organized themselves into a group. They collect about 1.35 yuan per day {#blank#}5{#/blank#} each member and add it to some money {#blank#}6{#/blank#}(contribute) by the government. With the money, they can afford 3 {#blank#}7{#/blank#}(acquire) materials and make baskets to sell at the market. If they are lucky enough, their group will become {#blank#}8{#/blank#}(large) and maybe set up a shop.

    Such programmes can change people's lives. There are a lot of other worthwhile programmes like this under {#blank#}9{#/blank#} umbrella of the UN that have helped millions of people worldwide.

    Cultural TV programs have experienced {#blank#}1{#/blank#}  come-back at the start of the Chinese New Year. A new program, Readers, has become a hit. Broadcast on China Central Television (CCTV) over the weekend, {#blank#}2{#/blank#}is bringing fresh{#blank#}3{#/blank#}(enthusiastic) for literature in China. Readers sets out to interpret the power and values behind {#blank#}4{#/blank#}(tradition) Chinese culture.

    The weekly talk show, produced and {#blank#}5{#/blank#}(host) by famous TV personality Dong Qing, invites people from all {#blank#}6{#/blank#}(walk) of life to read poems, essays and books they like or wrote. Without any amazing stage design, Readers has brought the almost-lost habit of reading aloud back into the public spotlight, {#blank#}7{#/blank#}(make) the audience bathe in the beauty of language. The participants also {#blank#}8{#/blank#}(active) share stories from their own life explaining reasons {#blank#}9{#/blank#}particular pieces touched their hearts or shaped their lives. In the show, poems can{#blank#}10{#/blank#}(adapt)into songs. Since its broadcast, it has been considered as "a breath of fresh air” among various shows in China.

    These sites post the latest stories and also keep all the past articles they {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (post) earlier. That way you can find articles just about anything that {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (be) related to the science fields you are interested in.
