    Hello, everyone! Up to now, we have finished learning the first three units of Book 1. Now let's review what we have learnt together.

    In Unit One, we have learnt about what kind of friends we should make from our friend Anne {#blank#}1{#/blank#}was killed by the German Nazis during World War Ⅱ. It was the first time in her life that she{#blank#}2{#/blank#}(keep)diaries in the hiding place. So she had great difficulty{#blank#}3{#/blank#}(set) down what she and her family had gone through. Though she grew so crazy about everything to do with nature, it was no pleasure looking through the dusty windows any longer.

    In Unit Two, we have known that there is more than one kind of English in the world and in some important ways they are very different{#blank#}4{#/blank#}one another. Believe it or not, there is no such thing as standard English. However, today the number of people learning English in China{#blank#}5{#/blank#}(increase)rapidly, although they find{#blank#}6{#/blank#}hard to learn English well. As high school students, we should make full use of our time{#blank#}7{#/blank#} (have) a good command of English in order to pass the College Entrance Examinations in three years.

    In Unit Three, our friends Wang Kun and Wang Wei made up their {#blank#}8{#/blank#} (mind) to take a great bike trip along the Mekong River. They both bought {#blank#}9{#/blank#} expensive mountain bike. Finally they got the chance after graduating from college. Soon they got their cousins{#blank#}10{#/blank#}(interest) in cycling too. After making preparations, they together started their journey and realized their dream to take a great bike trip.

    The Spring Festival, also known as the Lunar New Year, is the most important {#blank#}1{#/blank#}(tradition) festival in China, which falls in late January or early February.

    The historical reason for beginning the New Year in such a time is{#blank#}2{#/blank#} it is the time between autumn harvest and spring plowing and planting. In other words, it is the time for rest, relaxation and celebration after a year's hard work.

    Except this practical reason for celebrating the Spring Festival, a popular Chinese legend offers another {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (explain), which is {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (general) accepted in China. In ancient times, a devil called “Nian” that lived under the sea would attack people once a year on the eve of the New Year. It jumped out from the sea and attacked villages{#blank#}5{#/blank#} (eat) people, animals and plants. As they could no longer bear Nian's cruel persecution（迫害）, the villagers gathered {#blank#}6{#/blank#} (discuss) how to deal with Nian and some people suggested that the devil was afraid of loud noises, red color and flame. So people {#blank#}7{#/blank#} (light) firecrackers and fireworks, put up red couplets on{#blank#}8{#/blank#} (they) gates and beat drums to drive Nian away. The idea worked{#blank#}9{#/blank#}Nian ran away.

    Since ever, the custom and tradition of celebrating the Spring Festival has formed and the practices of putting up red couplets on gates, setting {#blank#}10{#/blank#} firecrackers and fireworks, etc. have been passed down.

    Wuzhen is a typical ancient town in southern China. {#blank#}1{#/blank#} (lie) in the northern part of Tongxiang City, Zhejiang Province, it can be easily accessed (到达) through a number of expressways. On a recent business trip to Shanghai, a local friend {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (invite) me to Wuzhen.

    It was 9: 00 am when we arrived there. With its houses made {#blank#}3{#/blank#} black bricks and gray tiles (瓦) against the white walls, the small town is like a {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (tradition) Chinese ink and wash painting. Wandering along the riverside, you will be {#blank#}5{#/blank#} (deep) impressed by the great view and slow lifestyle. At lunchtime, I {#blank#}6{#/blank#} (treat) to the steamed white fish, a well-known dish served at most {#blank#}7{#/blank#} (restaurant) in Wuzhen. It tasted so good. But I think it is the mix of culture and food that makes it so outstanding. After lunch, we continued our walk, enjoying the sights and learning about its history, a history {#blank#}8{#/blank#} is full of good stories and unique characters.

    It's really fortunate for anybody {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (explore) such a beautiful place. We hope there will be {#blank#}10{#/blank#} second chance to visit this wonderful town!
