    Failure comes to us sometimes. Last term, I met a painful failure, and it helped us find a new self. Before the final exam, I have promised my parents that I would get the best marks in all my subject. However, I did not listen to my teachers careful in class and paid little attention at my homework. As result, I failed two of my most favorite subjects, math and physics, which surprised everyone. Look back, I realized that it was my overconfidence which led to my failure. Only if we are modest but work hard will we have the chance to achieve our goals.

    Recently I have read a article written by Susan Beacham. She thinks if or not a gift is suitable lies not in its value and in the giver's heart. And she also thinks the giver should devote time and energy to the gift. I agree with him, whose article reminds me my best gift. It is a pen given by my devoting father. He doesn't earn many money. When I was in junior middle school, my father had bought me the nice pen. He wished me to study hardly. Since then, the pen has become my best friend, encouraging me to make great progresses.

    I will share one experience with you. With the College Entrance Examination draw near, I was filled with great anxiety. However, I couldn't be absorbed in study, resulting from my failing in the examination. I got very discouraging. Just then, my teacher, Miss Zhang, approach me and said, “In life we all have moment when we can't achieve what we want it. It is natural. Don't allow those moments to weaken you, and turn them into motivation to inspire you.” Her words were a reminder which provided myself with constant encouragement to smile at life. Consequently, I gained what I deserved.

    So it is an optimistic attitude which matters most of all. It gives you the confidence to deal with difficulties and to achieve what you want in your life.

    To support the activity name "Green Travel, Start with Me", I talk to my parents about my ideas. They were very supportive. They would not drive work from then on. In the following weeks, as they promised, I went to school by bike every day, while my parents went to work by bus. Though we were tired, but we all felt happily. Last Friday, the class meeting was held. Some parents were invited, including my father and mother. We shared our thought during the meeting. All of us held the same view which environmental protection is so important for our life.

    One year ago, I was in great trouble. I worked hard at English and devote all my spare time to practise it. But I failed to pass the mid-term examination, which made me great disappointed. So I asked my grandpa for help when I got to home. Hearing that I told him, he said, "Examination results are sometime unexpected. You can't judge your progress by one examination." He encouraged myself to work hard for long time to check my results. I took my grandpa's advice. Now I realize that the process of learning is much more important and my English is more better than before. From my experience, I feel that we should listen to opinion from old people.
