阅读下列短文, 从题中所给的四个选项(A、B、C和D)中选出最佳选项。

A

There used to be many beautiful flowers in our garden. Among them was a beautiful blue flower. My husband once told me that it only bloomed (开花) in spring and the sun in summer was too hot for it. When summer came, he would move it out of the garden and put it inside our house.

Once, my husband was away for some time on business, so I had to take care of the flowers. Before leaving, he told me to pay special attention to the blue flower. I planned to look after it as my husband had ever done, but I was too busy to remember it. One weekend when I wanted to move the blue flower into the house, I found that it had already died. I was very sad and regretted not taking good care of it earlier.

A week ago, my husband's elder sister, Linda, died of serious stomach cancer. Linda was much older than my husband. Maybe because of the age distance, we were not very close. After she died, we were very sad and regretted not visiting her often.

Linda's death reminds me of the blue flower. We should have done something better, but we haven't tried our best. I believe that God has given us enough time to plant some wonderful things that will bloom inside us, but we have missed it.

(1)、Which of the following is the right description of the blue flower?

①It only bloomed in spring.

②It didn't look beautiful.

③The hot sun in summer was bad for it.

④It had to be kept indoors in summer.

A、①③④ B、②③④ C、①②④ D、①②③④
(2)、When might the writer's husband be away on business?
A、In spring. B、In summer. C、In autumn. D、In winter.
(3)、Why didn't the writer take good care of the blue flower?
A、Because she didn't like the flower. B、Because she was too busy to remember the flower. C、Because her husband didn't ask her to do that. D、Because she didn't know how to take care of the flower.
(4)、The writer wants to tell us       .

 阅读下面短文,请从每小题所给的A、B、C、D四个选项中选出最佳选项。

Paul Roberts, a 15-year-old boy, lives in New York. Like thousands of other American students, he usually goes away to a summer camp during the school holidays.

These camps are just for teenagers, without their parents, and Paul always has a great time. But this summer he's doing something different-he's going on an adventure* holiday in Hawaii.

It's a camping holiday for three weeks in Hawaii, for kids from 14 to

18. He's leaving on July 23rd and coming back on August 12th.

First, they're putting on backpacks and hiking through the forest in Hawaii. The place is very beautiful, with huge waterfalls and fascinating beaches. After this five-day walk, they're staying for two days in a valley*. The main activity here will be surfing. Paul doesn't know how to surf, but instructors will teach him how to do it, and he's really looking forward to this.

Then the organizers are providing mountain bikes and they're going for long rides-about 30 miles a day, around one of Hawaii's mountains. And on one day they're meeting a local Hawaiian family and helping them to plant fruit trees on their farm. After that, they're sailing for three days by the coast, and they'll have a chance to swim with dolphins and sea turtles!

This sounds amazing. Finally, they're going out for three days in sea kayaks*-they're visiting sea caves and swimming too.

Every night for the three weeks, they're camping in tents*, usually on the beach. This isn't a holiday for couch potatoes! They say the kids have to be fit, and of course they have to know how to swim and ride a bike. The kids can't use the computer or pad during the three weeks, but it's going to be a really special experience.

 阅读下列材料,从每题所给的A、B、C三个选项中,选出最佳选项。

China is trying to get an international certification(认证) for Pao Cai. It's a vegetable dish from Sichuan. But some other countries have different ideas about it.

The disagreement(分歧) is between Chinese and South Korean Internet users. Kimchi is a usual Korean food made of cabbage, just like Chinese Pao Cai. Chinese and Koreans both think the vegetable dish comes from their own country.

China recently got a certification from the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) for Pao Cai. South Koreans quickly disagreed, especially on the Internet.

"It's really wrong, Kimchi is a part of our culture," a South Korean Internet user wrote on Naver.com. "I read a story that China now says Kimchi is theirs, and that they are making an international standard(标准) for it. I'm worried that they might take away Hanbok and other cultural symbols, not just Kimchi," said Kim Seol-ha, a 28-year-old in Seoul.

On China's Weibo, Chinese Internet users were describing Kimchi as one kind of Chinese Pao Cai. "Even the name of Kimchi came from Chinese, what else is there to say," one wrote on Weibo.

South Korea's agriculture ministry(农业部) on Sunday said that the ISO's standard is different from that to make Kimchi. "It is not right to report that Pao Cai wins the ISO without differentiating Kimchi from Pao Cai of Sichuan," it said.

Mr. and Mrs. George and Olivia Ransom bought an old house, and were spending time fixing it up. The walls needed painting and the wooden floorboards(地板) needed replacing.

One day, they pulled (拉) up some old floorboards and were surprised to see a case under the floor. They pulled it out, dusted it off and opened it. It was full of old newspapers from the year1977. George and Olivia were interested to read the news stories at that time. But as they took the newspapers out, they noticed a black box at the bottom of the case. It was locked.

Then Olivia remembered that there were some old things in the kitchen. There was a cup with old keys in it. She ran to get the cup, took out the keys and tried them in the lock. One of them opened it!

The box was full of jewellery (珠宝). There were necklaces and rings of silver and gold. Olivia and George were amazed. Who put the jewellery there, and why? Who did it belong to?

George remembered a story in the old newspapers. He quickly found it again and they read it together.

Police Unable to Solve Jewel Mystery

2 May, 1977— It has been three weeks since thieves robbed Jensen'sjewellery Store, but the police are no closer to solving the mystery of what happened to the jewellery. The jeweller, Stanley Jensen, said he was disappointed(感到失望的) that the police still had no answers...

"That name— Jensen, said George. "It's familiar to me— why?"

"It's the old lady who sold the house to us!" replied Olivia. "Her name was Mrs Jensen. She told us her husband died in 1978 and he was a jeweller."

"That's strange," said George. "I wonder, was there really a jewellery theft? Or did Stanley Jensen hide the jewellery under his own house? But why...?"
