    Language students often think they have memory problems. They worry because they can't remember words. In fact, the problem usually isn't with their memory. The problem is with how they study.

    To remember words better, you need to understand how memory works. There are two kinds of memory: short-term and long-term. When you see, hear, or read something, it goes first into short-term memory. But short-term memory lasts for only a few seconds. You will only remember something longer if it goes into long-term memory. Your long-term memory is like a very big library with many, many books. And like a library, it's organized (有条理的). When you put away a book – or memory – you can't just leave it anywhere. You have to choose a place where you can find it again.

    How can you do this with vocabulary? The answer is to work with the word and think about the word in new ways. You can do this by writing new sentences that include it. Even better, you can invent a little story about the word, with people or places that you know. Another way is to make a picture in your mind with the word. For example, if the word is height, you can think of the tallest person you know and try to guess his or her height. All of these activities are good ways to think about words. They make the meaning of words stronger in your long-term memory. And they give a way to find a word when you need it.

(1)、In the writer's opinion, students can't remember words because _______.
A、they have memory problems B、they are too worried C、they don't use a proper way D、they don't like to study
(2)、Which is TRUE about memory according to the passage?
A、Short-term memory is seldom used. B、What we see goes into long-term memory first. C、We will forget a word soon if it goes into short-term memory. D、We will never forget a word if it goes into long-term memory.
(3)、Which is one example of "thinking about the word in new ways" in Paragraph 3?
A、Making sentences with the word. B、Listening to some familiar stories. C、Talking with people that you know. D、Drawing pictures of the word on paper.
(4)、This passage mainly tells us about _______.
A、language students' problems in study B、how to make the meaning of words stronger C、short-term and long-term memory D、how to improve ways to remember words

Many parents like twins(双胞胎) a lot. For many years, people think that twins have a secret language. A lot of parents of twins say that their children have a secret way of talking to each other by using some words they don't understand. "The twin language" was very special in people's minds for a long time. However, a study shows that twins hardly have secret languages. So why do people think that?

When babies are learning to speak, they often make sounds and their parents don't understand them. For example, a child may call a bottle "baba". Since twins are learning the language at the same time, they often make the same mistakes. So, if one of the twins calls a bottle"baba", the other possibly starts to do the same. Soon, the twins are using the same inaccurate word. Parents may think of this as a secret language. In fact, the twins are learning new words like any other child.

A study shows that true secret languages don't happen very often. It happens because babies spend a lot of time alone and don't have many people talking around them.

Some studies show that it often takes longer for twins to begin speaking than for non-twin children. This could be because parents of twins can be busier than parents with just one baby, so they don't have much time to spend with their twin babies. Because twins understand each other's language mistakes, it may take them longer to learn words right.

As twins get older, like many non-twin children, they may make secret words for things they don't want their parents to understand!

 阅读下面材料, 从方框中所给的A-E五个选项中选择正确的选项(其中有一项是多余选项),将其序号填入31-34题, 并回答第35题(注意词数限制)。

" How are you?" is a friendly greeting. {#blank#}1{#/blank#} It often doesn't need an answer. The person who asks" How are you?" expec's to hear the answer "Finè" even if the person isn't fine. The reason is that " How are you?" isn't really a question and " Fine" isn't really an answer. They are common ways of saying " hello" or" hi".

 Sometimes, people don't say exactly what they mean. For example, when someone asks " Do you agree?", the other person may be thinking " No, I don't." It isn't polite to disagree strongly, so he might say," I'm not so sure." {#blank#}2{#/blank#}

 People also don't say exactly what they are thinking when they finish talking to other people. For example, many conversations over the phone end when one person says," I've got to go now," or the person who wants to hang up gives an excuse such as " Someone is at the door." {#blank#}3{#/blank#} the person who wants to hang up simply doesn't want to talk any more, but it isn't polite to say so. An excuse doesn't hurt the other person's feelings.

Whether they are greeting each other or ending a conversation, people often don't say exactly what they are thinking. {#blank#}4{#/blank#}

A. The excuse may be real, or not.

B. If you disagree with others, they will hate you.

C. However, " How are you?" is also an unusual question.

D. This is a nice way to say that you don't agree with someone.

E This is one way of being nice to people, and it's a part of the game of language.

According to the text, what might a person say when he/ she disagrees with someone?(10个词以内) {#blank#}5{#/blank#}
