Nowadays, the life of many people in the world is{#blank#}1{#/blank#}(affect) by globle warming. For example, greenhouse gas has a bad effect{#blank#}2{#/blank#}both people and environment. The earth's surface temperature{#blank#}3{#/blank#}(go) up by about 1 degrees centigrade in the past100 years. As a matter of fact, we may feel that we can hardly put up with the extremely hot summer and we can't get accustomed to warm winter. The rise of the earth's surface temperature has made much {#blank#}4{#/blank#}(different) to human health, the existence of creatures {#blank#}5{#/blank#} the balance of ecosystems. There is no doubt that it is human activities that result{#blank#}6{#/blank#}the bad environment. As a {#blank#}7{#/blank#}(consequent), conditions permitting, all countries in the world should try their best {#blank#}8{#/blank#}(improve) our environment. Even if our effect is limited, it will{#blank#}9{#/blank#}(eventual) make a great difference if we keep on{#blank#}10{#/blank#}(work) together to deal with global warming. Without all people's joint efforts, what would our future be like?

    We use flowers as messengers, to say something we might have trouble saying{#blank#}1{#/blank#} (direct) ourselves. Over time flowers have come to symbolize the most powerful human experiences: beauty, love, hope, and rebirth. Sweet flowers alone can say{#blank#}2{#/blank#} one fears expressing. We've listed some of the most famous flowers {#blank#}3{#/blank#} have a special significance.

    In Mao Zedong's poem Ode to Plum Blossom (《咏梅》), the plum blossom was used{#blank#}4{#/blank#} (praise) great soldiers who sacrificed their lives for a better life for Chinese people.

    {#blank#}5{#/blank#} great Chinese poet Li Bai from the Tang Dynasty once compared Yang Yuhuan's beautiful face to blooming peonies(牡丹). Flowering in May, peonies' large petals and strong colors are linked to prosperity(成功) and{#blank#}6{#/blank#} (rich) in traditional Chinese culture. The orchid (兰花) is well known for its delicate smell. Beautiful articles and poems{#blank#}7{#/blank#}(call) “lanzhang” by Chinese people in ancient times. Roses, of course, have the{#blank#}8{#/blank#}(colorful) meaning among all the flowers. Red roses mean “I love you.” A red rose, rather than yellow roses,{#blank#}9{#/blank#} (act) as the traditional romantic gift given to your love on Valentine's Day. Sending yellow roses can be risky, as they represent either friendship {#blank#}10{#/blank#} envy.

    For Nigel Portman, a love of travelling began with what's called a "gap year". In common with many other British teenagers, he chose{#blank#}1{#/blank#}（take） a year out before settling down to study for his degree. After doing various{#blank#}2{#/blank#} （job） to raise some money,  he left home to gain some experience of life in different cultures, visiting America and Asia. The more adventurous a young person, the{#blank#}3{#/blank#}（great） challenge they are likely to set{#blank#}4{#/blank#}（them） for the gap year, and for some, like Nigel, it can result in a thirst for adventure.

    Now that his university course{#blank#}5{#/blank#}（come） to an end, Nigel is just about to leave on a three﹣year trip that will take him right around the world. What's more, he plans to make the whole journey{#blank#}6{#/blank#}（use） only means of transport which are powered by natural energy. In other words, he'll be relying{#blank#}7{#/blank#}（main） on bicycles and his own legs; and when there's an ocean to cross, he won't be taking a shortcut（捷径）{#blank#}8{#/blank#}flying aboard﹣he'll be joining the crew of a sailing ship, instead.

    As well as doing some mountain climbing along {#blank#}9{#/blank#}way, Nigel hopes to pass on to the people he meets the environmental message {#blank#}10{#/blank#}lies behind the whole idea.
