What was I like when I was young? My mom said l was lovely．I was{#blank#}1{#/blank#}in everything．I liked oil{#blank#}2{#/blank#}．I liked riding a horse．I liked{#blank#}3{#/blank#}a cow．I liked helping{#blank#}4{#/blank#}vegetables on the farm．I also liked shopping．At the supermarket I didn't buy{#blank#}5{#/blank#}cheap．I was only interested in expensive things．Haha，I was a funny boy when I was young，wasn't I ?

    One day before my final exam, my dad gave me a gift. It completely changed my life.

    On that day I had a {#blank#}1{#/blank#} with my friends and it was a difficult time with my studies. I was unhappy. Then I noticed the gift. I {#blank#}2{#/blank#} it and saw a DVD inside. Its name was “THE SECRET”. However, I was in no mood (心情) to watch it. I sat down to study, but the {#blank#}3{#/blank#} in my life—the fight, the sleepless nights and my poor health … Everything came to my mind. I wanted an answer but I wondered {#blank#}4{#/blank#} there was any. Just then, I saw the DVD again. Maybe it would be helpful. I {#blank#}5{#/blank#} my DVD player. I had no words to describe the feelings I experienced while watching it. The moving stories of human beings made me so moved that I wouldn't {#blank#}6{#/blank#}any of them.

    Thanks to my father's gift “THE SECRET”, I discovered {#blank#}7{#/blank#}. Everybody has difficulties in their lives. The important thing is that you should be {#blank#}8{#/blank#} enough to face them. Now I have started {#blank#}9{#/blank#}my studies and my friends. And I'm in good health, too. I often hear people say, “Wow! {#blank#}10{#/blank#} a perfect life you have!”

    Every year in Australia there are crocodile (鳄鱼) attacks (攻击) on humans. Two years ago, a 24-year-old German tourist died when she went {#blank#}1{#/blank#} in a lake. Although there were signs warning people that there might be crocodiles, the girl and {#blank#}2{#/blank#} friends decided to have a midnight swim. The girl {#blank#}3{#/blank#} disappeared and the next morning her body was found. Near it was a four-meter crocodile. And only last month two{#blank#}4{#/blank#} boys watched in fear as their friend was killed by a crocodile. They were washing their mountain bikes in a river at that time. Then, those two boys climbed a tree and stayed there for 22 {#blank#}5{#/blank#}while the crocodile waited below.

    The planet Mars is the closest and most similar planet to Earth. It is very{#blank#}1{#/blank#}to scientists. For example, Mars has seasons with{#blank#}2{#/blank#}weather, but other planets have the same temperatures all year round. Was there{#blank#}3{#/blank#}on Mars?

    To find out, scientists need{#blank#}4{#/blank#}if Mars ever had water. In 2004. two robot explores (探测器), or 'rovers', called Spirit and Opportunity were sent to look for{#blank#}5{#/blank#}of water. These rovers can drive over rocks{#blank#}6{#/blank#}all kind of rough ground. They can also use cameras and send photos{#blank#}7{#/blank#} to Earth. First, the two rovers found chemicals and patterns (图文) in the rocks that were probably made by water. Then, they moved to another area and{#blank#}8{#/blank#}other rocks which may have been created by water. Now scientists think there was probably water on the planet long ago. Today  {#blank#}9{#/blank#}are still not sure if there was life on the mars. They{#blank#}10{#/blank#}need more information to decide. The discoveries of the two rovers answered some old questions, but they also brought up many new ones.
