As we all know there are all kinds of clubs in US middle schools, such as music club, sports club, chess club, swimming club. But do you know homework club? It is a popular club in many US middle schools. More and more students spend(花费) their afternoons at homework clubs. The US middle school students need a quiet place to study. But games, computers and TVs are all around kids at home. So the homework club is just for them to do their homework. The club is quiet and it's good for students to study. Some teachers are there, too. They can answer students' questions and help with their homework.

    After the students finish their homework, they can go home. Then they can play games or watch TV happily.

   It's a fine day. TheWhite family gets up at seven o'clock. They have breakfast at seven forty. Andthen they go to the park. They take a basket of food and a carpet (地毯).The park is not far from their home, so they ride bikes there. When they get tothe park, it's half past eight. Mr. and Mrs. White are talking with each other.Their son, Ted, is playing with a ball. Their daughter, Jenny, is takingphotos.

    After about an hour, Ted and Jenny sit down to relax. At that time, they see a squirrel eating a pine nut (松子)in a big tree. When they see the squirrel eating, they feel hungry. They go tohelp their parents take the food out of the basket. Ted has a hamburger.Hamburgers are his favorite food. Jenny has an apple. Mr. and Mrs. White havesome bread. They have a great time in the park.

    It's hard to make friends if you stay at home all the time, so get out of the house and do things that will put you in touch with(接触)other people. It's easier to make friends with them when you find you like the same things as other people.

Don't be afraid to show people what you're really good at. You can talk about the things you like and do best. People will be interested in you if they, hear something interesting about you.

    Look at people in your eyes when you talk to them. That way, they'll find it easier to talk to you, or people may think you're not interested in them and may stop being interested in you.

    Be a good listener. Let people talk about themselves before talking about "me, me, me” You can ask people lots of questions and show that you are interested in their answers.

    Try to make friends with the kind of people you really like, respect(尊敬)and admire(羡慕). You shouldn't just make friends with those people you will meet them easily. Try to be friendly with all kinds of people. That way, you'll have a bigger group of people to choose from. Then you'll be easier to make friends with other people.
